The Brits keep their Royals to have someone to be embarrassed about.

The fact they're not embarassed about themselves is the core of the problem

As Stronts says, we Brits have a constitutional monarchy, the monarch has democratically elected politicians to govern the country for her. It's been like this for ages, the last time the monarch refused to sign something in the Queen's Speech was 1730-ish, and the last time they came to the Commons was 1641. The only time the queen has anything practically to do with the ruling of the country is when there is a hung parliament, in which case she helps arrange the governing coalition.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Elizabeth dies/abdicates, as she's generally regarded more highly than Charles who would then become king. Rather perversely, the MP Expenses scandel made the Royal Family appear better than a lot of MPs :o

Most Brits are just sane, global warming is a religion.

I really don't get why everyone is so hard on Charles, he seems like a really good person. Into organic foods and sustainable communities and growth. What a nutball! I suppose I was quite young and may have missed the backlash against him regarding the PEOPLE'S PRINCESS (not jade)

It's hard to keep track of how the world changes when you have everyday problems to consider. All that complicated talk might be science, religion, philosophy or just idiots. But if someone asks me I'll have an opinion about it anyway, I don't want to seem ignorant of what is apparently a big thing.

Unknown hacker broke into the e-mail server at a prominent, British climate-research center, stole more than a thousand e-mails about global warming research and posted them online
The center confirmed the hack occurred in an e-mail statement to Threat Level.

The bloggers highlight a statement in one 1999 e-mail from Phil Jones, director of the research center:
I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (i.e., from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.
This article is an interesting read at least and probably just the beginning from the sound of it. The beginning of a shit load of bickering if nothing else:p

I was told be someone that global warming was caused by the superpowers doing high altitude nuclear bomb testing, these test actually raised the temperature of the earth by 7.386 degrees, and we're being fobbed off with its being caused by co2. But the oceans of the world release more co2 each day due to dead rotting animals and general deep ocean volcanic events than the whole human race has produced in the last hundred years. We keep get fobbed of by scientist in the uk government who dont even have a qualification in science. I did some work for a research company that found out that more co2 is produced durring earths cool periods, like ice ages, less plants to turn co2 into o2, than durring warm periods, but the uk government suppressed the document.
