I know that subscribing to a thread will get me an email every time somebody posts in that thread. What does subscribing to a forum do? It's rather unlikely, I think, that it would get me an email every time somebody posts a thread or reply in that forum. Does it get me an email every time somebody posts a new thread in that forum?

(I ask rather than testing it myself because my email inbox is overflowing already and I don't want to risk killing it.)
