well, considering the monolith are all brainwashed ex-stalkers one could say the psi emissions of the antennas are like music to them :)

But because it's so overcrowded and puts much accent on urban combat it doesn't have as much slow depressive atmosphere as I expected it would.
Agree with you 100%. I thought the level looked great but since it was doing the whole "it's the last levels so it's time for run 'n' gun" the atmoshpere isn't the same. Also what the fuck is with the end of this level? Some weird in-game cutscene panning over some stadium(?) with boars and anomalies and then bang you're at NCPP?
I was also dissappointed at the lack of 'survival' stuff, lack of choice with missions, the stealth element, the abundancy of ammo, artifacts, money and the generic "Morrowind/Oblivion" type of NPC's. I know this all may sound negative but I did really enjoy the game for its combat and atmosphere (Yantar is amazing). The way they managed to give you the progression of going up levels without actually going up levels was well done too but there was just so much potential that wasn't realised. This may change with mods and the upcoming sequel though.

You know you can get inside the stadium and explore it, right?

Though I stopped playing STALKER on a regular basis, I still have it installed and recently reloaded a Pripyat savegame to make another attempt to back out to the Bar with the treasure trove of artifacts I found in there (it kept hanging at a particular point).
Revisiting the Stadium, I found a Pseudogiant there :wot:; I also stumbled onto a pack of mutant rodents somewhere in Pripyat: my very first encounter with them in all my months of playing. The rodents would have been cute in a twisted way if they weren't trying to turn the PC into ratfeed.

I've also found a Pseudogiant inside the stadium. He was beneath the stands where the three RPG guys are. And the mutant rats too. Although I've found them in other places too: in Dark Valley, and also inside Lab X10, when I decided to go inside again after I had already disabled the Brain Scorcher, to pick up the weapons of the guys I killed.

No I didn't and soon as I stood on the hotspot, it did that weird cutscene and I was NCPP. I couldn't go back either. So how do you do i?

They're actually these little guys:

Just don't stand on the hotspot... there's nothing forcing to go towards it, and you can go around it and enter the stadium through a side entrance, then explore it. If you go all the way across the stadium, then try to exit it through the other side, you'll also end up being taken to the NPP.

I'm at the Red Forest. After getting the upgraded sniper-rifle near the beginning, the radiation gets really high, and the game tells me to turn back. Is there some special suit or something that I need? The game said pretty much the same thing when trying to enter X16 without the psi-helmet.
