Wow, it's opposite in the US, it's WAY too easy to sue someone for rape! It's like a game for some girls... Crazy world

I absolutely agree.

Don't know why, but it occurred to me whilst reading this that there is another point to consider. Women have a hard enough time proving rape in the first place. In the UK, at least, you may well be sued by a perpetrator if you hurt him/her while protecting yourself. In something like this, you may well find that not only can you not prove rape - 'there was consent, officer' - but you could also be sued for damage.
If a rapist can sue you for damages inflicted if you defend yourself, you really have to ask what kind of country you're living in. In America for example, we have this nifty thing called the Castle Doctrine which, to my understanding, lets us take lethal action to defend ourselves and our homes if we're threatened.
Innocent citizens should always have more rights than criminals who attack them.

Well, if that "thing" rips his tadger off then I'm quite certain that might provide evidence beyond the shadow of a doubt.
fett--what the hell do you do during your spare time? *wondering how/why you found this article*

In the UK, one generally cannot use more force than the attacker does - basically the whole 'disproportionate response' thing.

Exactly and that's bound to be considered disproportionate. After all, the judiciary is mostly filled with a bunch of old men who generally think that if someone is wearing a short skirt then she's asking for it. I can just see them sitting up there clutching themselves in empathy. (No prejudice involved here at all.:)) (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Pickles) Judge Pickles, I think was the most notorious.
And Queue, ******** - all that proves is that penetration has taken place. I mean, some people pay good for money for that kind of thing!
Matthew on 22/4/2008 at 16:04
You know, I'm not sure they would.
Queue on 22/4/2008 at 16:07
They do?! Hmmmmm... Do you, uh, know of anyone that...maybe...a...huh? *wink wink, nudge nudge--say no more*
And, I'm certain they are not just clutching "empathy" when listening to the details. Ewwwww.

Yes, but that was an ill-considered, totally emotional, very quiet rant. UK legal, as you know (;) ) is not my most favourite profession. Present company excepted, of course.
Things have actually improved enormously I think. I also think, reading up on it whilst searching for stuff, that although it's quite difficult to find any verifiable statistics on the issue, women who make false accusations of rape are the lowest of the low. (They do the rest of the female population an enormous disservice.) And when very often there is no real evidence of force, it must be one of the hardest judgement calls to make.
And Judge Pickles now a tabloid journalist. Ye Gods!

Queue - I was talking to Matthew not to you. Kindly stop interrupting!
And I'm sure google could help you out if you're desperate. All right? ;)
Double post required in order to ensure Matthew knew I was talking to him and not that interfering **** Queue.
