Nice chunky guitar riffs, and you guys are really tight. Vocalist reminds me of the newer Symphony X stuff (which I actually enjoy). Not sure about the acoustic break in the middle, particularly if this is the first track.
Are you guys still mixing? My only suggestion would be to EQ the bass drum with a little more low end and check the separation between the bass and snare drum - the bass drum is a little 'snappy' - it helps articulate what he's doing, but the ear confuses it with the snare drum when his playing gets busier on fills and such. The ride cymbal would also benefit from a bit more reverb/less compression IMO. Trebbley drum sets tend to hearken back to old Iron Maiden and Metallica, which some people like, but I think it tends to make the overall mix sound dated and 80ish. Beefier drums are one of the hallmarks of more modern metal. Your drummer is proficient so you'd hate to have his bass/snare/toms all run together for want of a broader EQ spectrum. Mastering can make the overall mix beefier, but very rarely does it do much for the individual drum sounds.
Post more as you finish the album. Not bad at all. :thumb:
