SETI is concluded? I haven't been paying any attention to it, I just run the BOINC client and let it do its thing. Am I wasting time here?

I used to run SETI@Home, first the classic and then the BOINC version, but since the project has pretty much been concluded and no other BOINC project offers native 64-bit binaries (yes, I know I could run 32-bit ones - but I don't wanna :p), I have decided to call it quits and actually let my computer use its fancy power-saving mechanisms. So, no folding for me at the moment.
I'm running the (
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/hottopics/climatechange/) BBC's Climate Change experiment, which uses BOINC. Not sure what xx-bit clients they have available for that particular one, though.

A few months ago the scientists supervising the project went and examined the most promising signatures yielded by SETI@Home. Now the laws of statistics suggest nothing special is to come out of what remained, so it is highly unlikely for any further processing to have any scientific significance. That's the official story anyway.
Still, there is still a lot of unprocessed data left and maybe it will prove useful to someone one day, not to mention raw data takes up much more space in storage, so if anyone wants to help they are welcome to. Then again, everyone who is into SETI@Home for significance had better find a new project to run.

I'm running the (
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/) World Community Grid on both my computers, that investigates new treatments for AIDS, amongst other projects. One of them is the Human Proteome Folding Project.

fuck that let's get our seti@home on

I got some more information via SETI@Home newsletter today and it turns out the project is being extended - with some more hardware at Arecibo and reworked processing code to increase sensitivity. Good to know that, guess I'll be firing up BOINC again soon.

dude are you up for that shit because I always wanted to do something cool with space
just imagine if my computer finds like a string of prime numbers coming from somewhere i would be like the first fucking dude to contact aliens. think of the movie rights and book deals

Hey, noid, look at this - 11-13-17-19-23-29
Did you see that string of prime numbers? If yes, that means you've just made contact with me! Now if you write a book about me, you can have all the rights! :D
Daveh, maybe you should code some distributed computing software, then get everyone on TTLG hooked up and sell CPU hours to whoever needs them. Then you can finance the site with some of the money and buy everyone a TTLG mug and a shirt with the rest.

ill write a book about my boot contacting your ass in a minute son

Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I wanted to hop on this train.
Is the TTLG folding group still alive? Is it using the Grid program, or the Stanford one?
