Well, IMHO the fog itself looks great, but in that mission it's much too bright and makes it look like daytime. It may be as simple as turning off fogging of the sky (which I think can be done) so that it remains dark.

So it looks like WinterCat only fixed the fog, but it still makes the sky look too light IMO. The demo mission Uninvited Guest (screens in thread linked to from WC's fix thread) has darker sky and less fog, and looks better to me. I imagine they changed the colour of the sky and that's the main difference between them.
