Fog in T2...I know you've heard it all... - by ricnor

I have read most threads in this forum about this mattter, but not seen anyone having the problem I have and have had for some time now.
I've completely stopped playing Thief as I don't want to ruin the experience with not getting any fog
Some month ago (february) I bought an ATI 1950pro-card, I installed it with the drivers that came along. I read the happy news about the new catalyst drivers have manage to give us decent fog, without any fiddling with config-files, or using ati-traytool, Rage3D etc. I've downloaded the newest cc-drives, installed and when I activate the fog in the option-menu....
EVERYTHING GOES WHITE !!!? .................(white as milk, you cant see a thing....just WHITE!!).....
Not seen anyone reported this in any thread.... :erg:
I've re-installed, cleaned, reboot....(you name it).....every time with the same result....just WHITE...!!!
I've updated my cc-drivers (latest version 8.6), but everytime....YES, WHITE! :erg:
Now I miss my Thief so much that I begging you to help me or at least point me in some direction !?!? :laff:
Note: I have had no problems with other games since I've bought my ATI-card.

I have an ATI 1950 Pro card as well, and I have experienced exactly the same problem. The problem seems to show up if you have used an older version of the Catalyst drivers, and changed the setting to get fog as described in the technical FAQ. When updating to the newest drivers, those tweaks are not removed from the registry, but they don't work with the newer drivers.
I found a solution, though - I simply had to undo the tweaks I had done with previous versions of Catalyst. I used ATI Tray Tools to do so - In the Advanced Registry Tweaks page, click the various fog options until all of them are set to No Value in registry, but do not disable them.
After I'd done that, I checked the fog in Precious Cargo and in Shadowing the Enemy (T2X), and it looks beautiful.
