just to test with, can someone an FM released in the last year or so that has good fog? I kind of forgot what I was missing there, and I'd like to get it back :(

There's also Dwelling insanity for stuff like that i think. Although it was a little weird, you know. You see alot whie infront of you, you come several steps closer and boom - clear fog. Like i have some certain range of shield and the rest is foggy. It's good to have it though. :)
Hmm, but looks like clearing has the same fog. :)

Nick - I can't believe no one has fog in Vista.
Well, maybe some have got it working, but I've tried everything I can think of. Could be that it's a combination of nVidia hardware and Vista, or some other factor.

Probably something to do with DirectX 10. I still don't quite understand why people use Vista...
As for the "Wall of fog" effect, I was sure ATI had fixed that in the more recent Catalyst drivers...

With the latest drivers you should have a beautiful smooth fog without using any tool.
I have an Ati 9800 pro (OS XP Home) and with the 8.2 Ati drivers fog is displayed just fine. Others tweakers should be disabled.

No, others including Biker have echoed your sentiment as well, so I stand corrected. So, this thread is as good a place as any to ask: Does anyone have fog working in Vista? Maybe by running Thief in an XP VM?

I have fog, but only partly. When I launch a new level the fog is displayed fine. But when I read a book or when I go into the menu, the fog disappears.
Then I have to restart the game.
In XP there are no problems...
EDIT: Forgotten it... My graphics card is a Radeon X1600 Pro with 8.6 drivers

Hmm... could it work on Radeon 9000?
I downloaded and installed AMD Display Driver (version 8.31), but still didn't work. :/

Maybe you have to disable the Ati Tools, if you have them enabled?
Anyway, check this thread:

If anythink works you could try installing just the 8.2 release, without any tool or tweak, as they worked for me.
