Personally, I thought the funniest bit was ZylonBane swallowing, backpedalling, then covering his ass three ways from Tuesday in a hilarious attempt to maintain his Cool.
Let's see-- my first post in this thread didn't say anything one way or the other on the truthfulness of the announcement (and note the lack of particularly caring). My second post agreed with New Horizon's suggestion that it was an April Fool's prank. So by the first page of an eight-page thread, I'd already made up my mind.
But hey, think whatever it takes to get you through the day man.

Magnificent prank, GBM...
Those who bought into it and are now being brats, get over it, it was damned funny. Try laughing at yourself once in a while.

I'd like to offer an equally well-founded counterpoint:
Those who thought it was damned funny were sexually abused as children.

You're just angry because you didn't get any when you were a kid.

It was funny at first but having carried it on far beyond what was needed was actually pretty cruel. Might have made a much better joke next year, when the fan missions have actually started to come out but right now...it was a little too close to home. People are still a little burned I think. I don't think there is anything wrong with showing a little sensitivity.

Gahhh, it was a great April Fools. Come on, there were no others and TTLG has one every year.

Amen, NH. Your thoughts throughout this thread have mirrored my own, and I admire you for having the guts to speak up and show some passion before GBM got bored. You rock, my friend. I can't say I liked having that nagging 5% of me thinking there might be something in this, and mulling over the possibility of spending another year (and a small but not insignificant amount of money) maintaining another campaign.
The irony is that the 5% was based on respect for GBM that he wouldn't risk damaging the lifeblood of what is still a fledgeling community and then spin it out because it wasn't working.
Meh. Still, we're just sore losers with no sense of humour.
