FMs to be distributed exclusively through Eidos? (LOOK OUT! IT'S A PRANK!) - by Gingerbread Man

Which is the main reason why I figured that, if it is a joke, they would've nipped it as quickly as possible. On April 1st it was tasteless but funny, on April 2nd it's simply not funny anymore....and I think the mods would realise this.
I wasn't worried about it before, but now I am getting a bit perturbed.
And yet, if it is true, why did GBM not do some more investigation, or get an official announcement from Eidos before posting it? Particularly since this would have avoided posting it on April 1st, thus eliminating
any possibility of confusion. Why has he not simply denied any of the suggestions that it is an April Fool's joke, when this would be simple to do and would clear up the issue?
This is becoming extremely strange.

Right! That's what I mean - I really hope this
prank doesn't backfire, turning people angry, and away. How many would-be FM authors have already stopped by, read this "news", said "you know what? I've had it with that game, screw it," and left, never to return? Good job, there! It could ultimately damage the potential for good T3 FM editing and if that were to happen, it was a dumbass thing to do.
I'm a pretty easy going guy as SneaksieDave and many in the community must know. It takes a LOT to anger me, but right now I'm pretty much pissed right off the scale. Two reasons.
1. If this is still a joke...it's really gone above and beyond reason. The devs and the fan base lobbied hard to get the editor out. Allowing a joke like this carry on is completely disrespectful of those efforts.
2. If it is true and Eidos wants to get their hands on the hard work of the fans, then I am equally pissed at their greed. While it doesn't affect me as much since I'm primarily involved with Dark Mod, it does make my blood boil at the thought that Eidos would try to wiggle its way into something the community has poured so much passion into keeping alive. A community that I have been a member of for many years. Personally, I'm going to ignore it and I suggest everyone else do the same. Let them sue me, I'm sure that will make them look like true humanitarians. It would make a nice headline. "Company sues loyal fanbase."

Or better yet: "Company sues loyal fanbase for using the tools they gave them in the first place".

:thumb: Bingo.
That would make a great headline on fark.com...especially with an

Lets try it out...shall we?

Yeah, that's about right!
I usually don't get very angry but...they can eat a Banana Split out of my orifice.

If this is real then just wait a few months. By then Eidos will have been sold and then things may change.

Hmm. Where are my T2 disks? Time to reinstall Dromed. Maybe buy Doom 3, too.
By the way, why hasn't GBM jumped in here anywhere? Awful silent, aren't you, big guy? :cheeky:

You guys suck at the anagrams.

A joke is fine but this is causing the community a LOT of undue upset.

http://www.ttlg.com/gbm/alij.jpgI'm not sure whether to be happy that you're all not utterly cynical bastards who believed it just because it sounded like a reasonably ignorant and stupid corporate move, or to be annoyed that you're all evidently smarter than me this year. Again.
You just wait.
YOU JUST WAIT.
Next year is only a few hundred days away.

If the "obscure fan community" is the one producing the free content for Eidos to sell, then it matters very much if there is a bad feeling. Bad feeling = no FMs = nothing for Eidos to put in their addon pack = no money. Again, I think you are considering the situation where Eidos produce their own extra missions, which is possible but very unlikely (for a start they no longer employ any of the Thief mission designers).
If they would rely on FM creators you were right. but this could be just another revenue. Not important, but still. So they probably wont care one way or the other.
