So no one has it working yet? Will anyone upload it to a host which allows resuming?
Crispy on 14/6/2005 at 08:21
I'm downloading it, and will upload it to a better host when I'm done. :)
I can't actually play it yet (need to reinstall T3), but as soon as I get the time...
Edit: Eh. I'm having problems uploading such a large file (the host doesn't support uploading resumes apparently, though it does allow downloading resumes :eww: ). I'll try a few more times, but it keeps disconnecting me, so no guarantees...

Ouch.
Well, it works for me, but my previous level had problems when applied to another install of thief - so can someone please try plan B for me? By this I mean don't put anything into your copy of thief apart from the TDS_Townhouse.ibt/gmp files and try launching from a shortcut - if the triggerscripts are in there then you should at least get a few mission objectives, and some citywatch should come in the front door when you reach the top of the stairs in the bar.
If it's not going from the main menu, I can only assume that we really do need to give out our versions of the gamesys (just about the only thing I didn't include in that version) - because of the archetypes in the EnterMission and stuff (though they were working out, just about okay, with concretes). They were the only changes I made to the gamesys.
EDIT: just tried ascottk's map, and while it's inconsistant between the entry map and the game (entry has weapons and the castle map listed as gear, but the game doesn't), so long as you remember to turn BlockLoading back on the objectives and stuff show up okay, and since he hasn't included any triggerscripts seperately in the dl I guess they really do go into the ibt files.
Natch, if it weren't so inconsistant before, I'd've realised that. Damn teething troubles...
Congratulations ascottk - it may be WiP, but at least you got the first working FM out. (git) :p
Oh, and Crispy - seems we don't need the MainMenu* or Kernal* files, so if you re-zip it without them the filesize goes down about 8MB, which might help things a bit.
Crispy on 14/6/2005 at 11:44
Heh, damn. I just managed to upload the full file. :cheeky:
Edit: I've had to remove the files because I'm exceeding my bandwidth; I quite underestimated how many people would download them. Sorry!

Do we have any idea what the Mainmenu and Kernel files do? I'm wondering because when I generated my test .ibt, the sizes were different from those of the original versions. I get some odd stuttering in the games as well, but only when running the T3 MainRelease executable, when I use the "slower" executable (T3MainOpt), it's smooth as silk.
I guess I'm hoping that those .ibts will somehow solve that issue, but I'm sure that's wishful thinking (it could just be some weird memory thing from running the editor and that executable, who knows).

Sorry for novice question...
I have T3Ed installed. How do I run IBT file? Where shlould I place it? What INI settings should I change in order to run it?
Ziemanskye on 14/6/2005 at 16:24
Bukary - ibt files go into the CONTENT/T3/Maps folder, and to run them straight off you need to also have the gmp file, and the editor version of t3.exe. Then you create a shortcut that points to t3.exe followed by the map name.
If you need to alter a specific user.ini file, it should just be:
Quote:
[BlockLoading]
LoadFromResourceBlockFiles=True
Otherwise, with an alternate Entry.gmp map, you should be able to play the map from the main menu "New Game" command.

So... if I download the file named townhouse.IBT, I should place it in the CONTENT/T3/Maps folder, and then run "t3.exe townhouse" command? That should do it? Or... do I also need GMP file for THIS mission to be created? How?
Ziemanskye on 14/6/2005 at 16:35
Just like that bukary, yup, though some people have (apparently) found they need the gmp version as well as the ibt - just so the launcher can find it or something, you don't need to recompile or run it through the editor or anything like that.
For my mission here you would need both TDS_Townhouse.ibt and TDS_Townhouse.gmp in the Maps folder, then it would run off the shortcut

I guess TDS_Townhouse.ZIP contains both IBT and GMP file, right? :)
