Flipping youtube... - by zombe

Does anyone know any age-restriction workarounds for youtube? My google-fu found nothing that actually works at present time.
Example: (

Youtube apparently does not care what you tell in account settings and requires either an credit card transaction or photo of some valid ID for verification.
I do not really trust them with the later and the former is very difficult to do (Credit cards enabled for online use have no legitimate purpose around here - consequently i do not have one to begin with. Had to make one specially to deal with foreign shit like steam etc, over paypal for convenience and sanity, but youtube does not accept paypal and my card has apparently expired some time ago).
Fuck that shit. There is got to be a workaround for the extremely rare cases one actually encounters that stupid block. Right?

Slightly editing thread title.

While it is obvious that we adopt a fairly easy stance on the use of "profane" language in posts, we do ask that the titles of threads contain no foul language. Moderators of individual boards may also allow or disallow profanity as they see fit, and their decisions are final.

Oh, forgot about that. Have to do some updating as my existing version fails to play any video (restricted or not) - all it manages is to fetch the title. But that has to wait for a while as i really need to dig some food - after actually making some.

Sorry about that. Would say that Youtube asked for it ... but ... actually, i have no idea why the encountered video is age restricted at all. I do not remember any nudity in the covered tv show nor any heavy topics that could warrant it. Preemptive over-reaction by the up-loader for youtube algorithm/policy safety?
sigh.

Updated VLC works. Cheers.
Also, having now seen the video - nothing heavy is shown nor even mentioned that could warrant a block. Seems to be Youtube induced silliness. Unless i missed some obscure reference to iffy/banned topic or something else equally idiotic.

EU once again making the internet a worse place for everyone.

Some creators might also not be aware that their video has been age-restricted. If you have a YouTube account, you might want to send a private message to those who have had their videos blocked so that they can re-upload or edit their videos to not be blocked. False-flagged vids have been a notorious problem on YouTube for the last handful of years.

Wouldn't argue with the sentiment. This is the first thread title I've ever edited for 'profanity'. I feel I should give you some kind of award!

I'm going to hijack this topic for just a bit - I'm getting spammed, right?
