I notice a lot of people in general complaining that the anti safedisc/no cd function has ceased to operate after a while. My theory is that it has to do with the use of plugins (mods)...since you have to use the launcher to load in plugins, I think it might override any of the improvements made in the hacked safedisc version of the morrowind .exe.
Has anyone found a way to get around this? Cause I love my mods, but this BS of pausing me every ten seconds or so as I sprint around the countryside is really starting to piss me off...
(btw, I heard you can tell if the safedisc protection is loading if a black square pops up in the upper left corner of your screen as you load mw, right before the whole screen goes black and the bethesda logo appears...as well as the periodic pauses of the game without any load bars...)
SAFEDISC REALLY EATS A *^*&^&*...why bethesda...why?

The launcher simply starts Morrowind.exe so nothing should be overridden(?)
And about the black square.. thats untrue, i get a black square, and i am not using safedisk...
And i beleve it should be "why [insert name of Morrowind publisher here]" not "why bethesda"

If it is the launcher you could try to trick it by deleting/moving the original .exe and renaming the no-safedisk .exe "morrowind.exe"
Just a thought...

I don't know, the new nodisc exe is called just "morrowind" already, and the old one is called morrowind old....Has anyone conclusively gotten rid of safedisc and still been able to use mods/plugins?

Yes. I have both the original Morrowind.exe and the Morrowind_nocd.exe files in the morrowind directory with shortcuts to each. When I want to load a plug-in for the first time, run the original morrowind.exe to load the data. Once it is loaded I shut the game down and start the game using the nocd file. I only have to do this the initial time I load the data file. Once it is loaded the first time using the original .exe, it will continue to load up every time you run the nocd.exe. Works like a charm. I havn't tried to unload any plugins yet, but I suspect you would have to do that through the original .exe too.

k maybe i dont' know what i'm talking about so no flaming here, but all the morrowind launcher does is give you a pretty menu that you can select crap from. If you hit play using the morrowind launcher file all it does is link to the morrowind.exe file in the game folder... you can confirm this by if you rename or remove the files so there is no morrowind.exe file in your folder the launcher doesn't do diddly

yeah I suppose...but there is definitely a difference when I play without plugins...

I too have both exe's in the folder but now, whichever exe i use it just launches the game and gives me no options to include plugins. Should I re-install the whole game again do you think? Cant say i noticed too much of an improvement with the nocd.exe anyway

You might try looking for the launcher in morrowind's directory; other than that, no idea.

Ok, I'm with Darkghosty on this one, and also like him, maybe I'm just talking out of my a$$.
But as far as I know - the Launcher is merely a set of shortcut links. My No-CD crack was copied over the original Morrowind.exe, so I don't even have the original executable. But my launcher works fine, thus I don't think the launcher can go behind your back and load up the original version of the game...
So wouldn't all this be solved if you just renamed your no-CD exe to the Morrowind.exe, so that's what the launcher picked? Again - I haven't used any plugins yet, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
