The point is $$$Money$$$.
Hot graphics and dumbed down games sell like hotcakes to the starving with the console crowd.
They are cranking out crappy games that look nice and have no gameplay as fast as they can, racking up huge budgets to get em out the door asap.
Thats whats selling now and it is not likely to change in the foreseeable future now that games are "mainstream".
I still hold out hope that some unknown developer will step up up to the plate and put out a truly awesome engrossing game like System Shock 2 and Deus Ex since the big names won't do it.

IMHO Not bioshock 2. Thats probably going to be much worse than the first because a different team is working on it.

By the time BioShock 2 surfaces, they will have mastered water particle system (like, you can pick up a bucket, dunk it underwater, fill it, and move it, and pour it on something), and of course, the game will be ~20 minutes long on "Nightmare" mode... Don't forget the extremely simple interface, none of this complicated weapon selection system we (come to love) use nowadays.. If they use Microsoft's example, they will make it as dumbed down as possible, so even my mom would play it. (Mind you, she did play a game of Doom Co-op with me over serial once, which was awesome...)

Compared to almost everything else that came out in the last 5 years.....YES!It IS a step back to a better game.If you don't think so then i guess thats your opinion.I am sticking to mine.

PLEASE educate me what awesome games have come out in the past 5 years that I have missed?I haven't seen any recommendations in the Bioshock forum.
Was it Quake 4?
Was it WOW?
Perhaps Clive Barker's Jericho?
Let me know so I can run out and buy it.I have been starving for a new great game for years.I would think most of the people here are also and would love to play one.Please enlighten us on what we have been missing.
