first time through -- li'l more advice?

yeah, I keep waiting for her to ask me to wire money to someone in nigeria so I can claim my fortune.

I was kind of worried that we'd get to the body of the many and it was all organic so there'd be no more replictors, or upgrade units, but I see they stuffed some in there.

edit: and I'm on my way to look up hotkeying psi powers in the manual, unless somebody wants to save me the trouble.

F1 through F5 cycle all powers in that tier. Shift+F1 through Shift+F10 can be used to assign hotkeys for skills.

Yes, playing through SS2 for the first time was bar-none the finest single-player experience that I've ever had in any game. Co-op is still fun, but it won't be the same. Ahh, to get back that feeling again. Maybe I can wait until I'm old and senile; then I can experience it for the first time, again and again. :)

Yes, it does. SS2 is a game that is fundamentally about being ALONE. The sights and sounds of SS2 are all designed to install in the player a dread sense of isolation and desperation. By playing co-op, you directly undermine that authorial intent. The only reason SS2 even has a multiplayer mode is because the publisher demanded it.

You can only play a game for the first time once. By playing SS2 co-op for the first time, you lost something forever-- the experience of discovering all its pitfalls, twists, turns, and horrors with no one to depend on but yourself. Conversely, you can always go back and play SS2 in LOL WUT KEKEKEKE multi-player mode without losing anything.

Because he's right. And asking him why he cares about people getting the best out of SS2, on a forum dedicated to preserve the legacy of this game doesn't make you look like a shining light of tolerance, in case you thought so.

Edit: James, you are and your wife are from another era. You didn't go at SS2 MP like kids do, who've grown up with nothing but console games and WoW.

and single player was most likely never happenin', if it makes anybody feel any better, but I can definitely see how it would be creepier.
