Glad to see there’s still some love for Arx. It really nails that underground, claustrophobic atmosphere better than most modern RPGs. The rune-casting system was super creative too — clunky at times, sure, but it made magic feel earned.

Oh man I still remember the crypts in Arx, playing at 3AM with that ambient sound that creeps me out.....
I was turning around hearing something behind me, but it was the ambient sounds....

Not finishing the game might be the right call.
I am not bashing the game in anyway, it was the first game I ever played that I recall feeling like I was actively interacting with things or figuring out mechanics. Like baking bread, fish or making potions, latter on finding hidden spells.
But near the end of the game it starts to feel more rushed, and feels more like a part one rather then a full game.
The director seems like a cool dude, still making unique games and music.

Oh I dunno, I feel that it's still worth playing to the end for the sake of completeness, but perhaps that's just because I have this peculiar behavioural trait that compels me to finish a game if I've invested a reasonable amount of time on it.
That said, it's been a long time since I played ARX to the end. I can barely remember the ending but the systems, characters and places have a firm and special place in my memory, so perhaps that's what is most important about this game.

Eh mostly all games have that part where you can tell originality started to get dry and the game becomes awkward from a certain point onward, most games suffer from that.
But I always try to finish it, no matter what, or what it takes.
