David, would that be the oldBar extension, or is there another one out there?
EDIT: What do you use at home, David? Opera?
Yeah, it's the oldbar extension.
I use Safari as I use a Mac.

Changes only seem to be minor. I'm sure there are skins that fit your preference for Opera 9.5, raph. Widgets are lacking for Opera, its whats missing most and a internal spellchecker. Extensions make firefox a blast.
Opera is my default browser atm. :)
The problem is the custom skin I've been using since Opera 7 (Odyssey) is broken by 9.5. But yeah, it's my default browser too. For all the little things I don't like it remains the best browser to me. (That said I have to admit I was impressed by IE7.)

You folks need to give the "awsome bar" a chance. Granted, it took me a couple of weeks to get used to it, but now I find it incredibly useful and would never go back. I'm just hoping the delicious plugin will make use of it somehow. (Disclaimer: I'm not one who has several millions of bookmarks, maybe that would make it annoying)
Same goes for the new backarrow really. Didn't care for it to begin with but over the seemingly endless months of betas, I've gotten used to it and quite like it.
Pretty much eveything is an improvement over Firefox 2 if you ask me.

I changed over yesterday, mostly I'm waiting for my favourite extensions like Morning Coffee and my Safari-like skin to be updated.
The Awesome Bar does look quite good at the moment, but I've not been using many of the features of it as yet. I also just took a look at about:config and oh my god that was scary :(

in this light, how do you fare with Word 2007?
At home, I use Open Office. As far as I'm aware, I do not believe the university has updated their version of Word to 2007.

Believe me, it does.

I like almost everything about Firefox 3; the bar included.
I absolutely hate the new icons though. They look cheap and amateurish. What was wrong with the old ones?

What annoys me about the awesome bar (even with the browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped variable set to true) is that it picks out document extensions. My main browser is Safari, but sometimes I'll copy links over and paste them into Firefox - which kind of understandably count as typed.
I use several installations of PHPMyAdmin over various servers, and all of them are in the form (
http://php.domain.com). Typing 'php' into the URL bar, not only brings up the installations of PHPMyAdmin, but also any url with a .php extension. It is terribly annoying as the bar only does an 'average' job of correctly sorting them by most visited. Quite often a once or twice-visited url ending in .php will make it's way to the top of the list (or close to), when my PHPMyAdmin servers should be there - quite jarring when every other browser I use does it the way I would expect.

What is this "awesome bar"? I have FF3 and I see no bar, awesome or otherwise.
Overall it feels smoother and I like the session saver. I'm narked that the myPortal extension doesn't work though. It was my fave thing ever. If anyone knows of a replacement please tell me.
Inline edit: I searched for "awesome bar". Meh. I guess I hadn't even noticed it so atm it's no biggie either way.

Same - didn't know there was an "awesome" bar till I read this thread. I never used that part of a browser anyway.
So far the worst thing is that there is NO WARNING when you close the browser and have the download going. What were they thinking?
I like the ETA in the bottom left corner though. And that images load as names first, it's useful for us third-world dwellers with coal-powered Internets.

I thought I would finally give firefox a trial with this new edition. I had always resisted in the past as I prefered the way that IE loaded pages but Firefox 3 seems to be quicker and so that problem is gone.
I am however still unconvinced. I got an add on for blocking ads which is nice but I dont really like having a single download window and also it does not interface well with software like MSN. Anyone have any fixes for that or suggestions for other addons worth having?
