I like it a lot!:D
Thirty seconds was plenty, and it's great you were able to capture the sound, too. It even sounds pretty cool.
So the last question is: Will it respawn?

And he leaves a fire arrow after death - I like it :]

I've never been a fan of the crystals' "humming wine-glass" sound--although the sound itself is nice--but it actually enhances the moment the Fire Shadow dies. It makes it seem as if the Fire Shadow's life force has been captured in crystal form, or something, whereas it's been said the Thief Gold version "poops" a fire crystal as it flees. I'd call this a definite improvement, ShadowSneaker. :) I hope your Fire Shadow can be implemented in a way that brings legitimacy to what has been considered an embarassing band-aid fix. I always liked the creature, regardless of the unfortunate reason for its existence. I've grown to REALLY like the creature after reading some fan-fiction which was very respectful and gave the creature a quiet nobility.

Yeah, Tim Stellmach (EvilSpirit) added him in, for mainly that reason. It's also to give people another chance to access the Keeper Chapel by lighting up the torches around the Sentinel in the Grotto. I liked the thought put into the Fire Shadow which made it unique. And yes, you all deserve credit for what will be the best Fire Shadow EVAR!
Although the rapid acceleration while fleeing before "death" would be a nice touch, it would only be necessary for consistency's sake. And the fanfiction made use of this ability, as well. Here's EvilSpirit's explanation for the speed-flight: (

This one would probably have to run in a tight circle.:laff: It helps that the crystal doesn't appear before the Fire Shadow has died.
The fanfiction hasn't been released, yet, but it's the revised and unfinished edition of
Correspondance of Thieves, which I proofread a bit.

Looks great. Although I'm not sure right now what it took to kill the TG Fire Shadow, I'd think three or only two water arrows should be enough. Otherwise it gets too action-packed. If you try this little ranged damage thing that popped to my head earlier, you'd still have a challenge I believe.
About the Scripts, taking Judith's problems and mine we could consider to open a common scripting-related questions thread.

It's also about sacrificing water arrows, the price to pay for a fire crystal, but yeah, it was three water arrows that made the original drop a fire crystal and flee.

Sometimes the Fire Shadow would run right at Garrett, and pass through him, disappearing before the player could whip around and see where it went. Freaky. :D

It's only happened to me once in-game, in
The Haunted Cathedral mission, because it's walking around in a small room, and I happened to be standing between it and where it rocketed off to.
It happened again today when I made a small room in DromEd in order to count how many hits it took to get it to flee.:ebil:
Here, I made a video to show it running around. It wasn't aware of my presence. If I were to make a real movie, I might have the Fire Shadow leap at the camera, like it's lunging at the viewer's face, with a scream that sounds like an inferno, and dissipating just before impact, leaving the fire crystal/life force, 'cause that's how Hollywood does it! Just kidding. That's too easy and unoriginal.

Here's a more typical reaction, like you described:

You know, if that's the usual way your Fire Shadow collapses with the fire crystal appearing where it lay, as in your video, it's pretty damned good. Leave it like that. :thumb:

No no...thank you!
Try 99%.:p
Interestingly, because it wasn't an issue in Thief Gold, the Fire Shadows are immune to drowning. Immersed, the water is as air to them.

HAHAHHAHA it's going crazy!!! :laff:
