Like that, yes :laff:
And the reason for killing him would be that he may be the only one able to stop Helios, so he wants him removed. You do not know what Helios' goals are, so it is impossible to know if the extermination of mankind is logical or not :)
As for maintenance, that's what all those neat bots are for :p

Maybe it just wanted to kill you. Maybe he'd wanted to see how to exterminate mankind by examinng his brains. Maybe he'd turn him into a cyborg to do his evil bidding. You don't know what crazy things AI's (and me) can come up with :)
If it wanted to examine someones brains to find out how to exterminate mankind why would it matter who it merged with, & surely human history shows plenty of ways to kill large amounts of people.

But Denton is augmented. And he is already in Area 51, near the Aquinas Hub, so if Helios would start killing peple, it wouldn't be very hard to blow up the hub.
This is bothering me too: Why can't I kill Bob Page, and then still blow up the reactor? :)

Hi people! First people here !
I like the three endings, to watch, I prefer the Illuminati, it concludes the story better, imo.
But my really favorite is the Dark Ages. Enough of world domination by evil people! And it is tewmpting :)

I liked the dark age ending the most, but who of us would really choose that IRL? Who of us would REALLY like to live in dark age? Not many if you ask me

You can, but it requires some cheating ;) I just completed a hybrid Page/Helios ending.
Here's how you do it:
Complete the required subtasks for both endings (or all three if you want)
Go stand in front of the power button for Page so it's flashing as if to select it.
bring down the talk button (usually 't')
type "set jcdentonmale bcheatsenabled true" followed by return.
bring down the talk button again
type "Ghost" followed by return, you will get a message telling you that you feel "ethereal"
navigate throught the map back to the start of the level, but notice that the selection is still flashing for the button to kill page.
whilst standing at the level exit press the 'use' button
bring down the talk button again
type "Walk" followed by return
It should now play Page's death notice to you and he dies
now before or whilst everett is speaking to you exit the level.
you can now go to complete either of the other tasks.
I think you can probably activate the reator in the same manner (with the Ghost/Walk) and get to helios before that animation plays but I havent tried that yet.

I was more thinking out-loud of an in-game explanation why you couldn't do both, but this is interesting as well :)

I guess they assume that blowing up the reactor does kill Bob Page. So logically, if you chose the Dark Ages ending and blew up the reactor, you did kill Page. If you wanted to only kill Page, but not go into a Dark Age, you would've chosen the Illuminati ending.
SJamieson on 1/10/2004 at 02:28
Of course that doesn't hold if you want to kill Page and merge with Helios, or should you just assume that Helios will kill page out of pity?
Deiyen on 1/10/2004 at 07:27
Well, I was just answering NHJ BV's question, but I imagine if you merge with Helios, Page isn't really an issue anymore so there would be no reason for you to kill him. But even if you did want to kill him, you become Helios (to some extent) after merging, so you still have the choice whether or not to kill Page.
