Looks a bit Mies van der Rohe. What's the building's function?

Needs more torches.

Don't worry, in the inevitable Metal Age total conversion, the building will be outfitted with torches ... and zombies. And pickles.
The project is to design a Developer/Contractor office in Tampa's Channelside district with three "million dollar" apartments attached. The red box is the site.

The entire area is warehouses in the Google Maps image above, but it's several years old. Many of them have been torn down, or are being torn down, and various condominium buildings are being put in. Some are nearly finished, some are jungles of concrete and steel, and some are bare lots awaiting groundbreaking. With Tampa's industry moving away from downtown, the warehouses became abandoned, and some crafty land developers released that this waterfront property a stone's throw from downtown was prime real estate for exuberantly expensive condos.
Here's the southern elevation and a bit of the east. Daylighting models early morning during late May. (Though when the adjacent building across the street to the east goes up, they won't be getting much light in the morning until around 10-ish.) The glazed area across the south side and wrapping around to the east (three floors) is the office space, with the apartments (townhouses in my case) above and to the west, like a bunch of "L"s tipped over on their side. The master-bedroom suite is the part that juts out over the east street. That's a small parking garage at the bottom right.

And, my God, I've been called Miesian.
Tomorrow our "final" plans are due, and we're presenting to the class. It seemed like a good idea to finish the 3D model tonight as well, since the autocad plans are based off this geometry. After that presentation, we'll have eight days to finish the project. (And just because they're "final" plans doesn't mean that the professor won't tell us to change them.)

But why do your shadows cast shadows on the ground there?

Actually, his buildings are more boxy and austere. Seeing the design further back I can see it's modern but not minimalist.

Thanks Raph!
And I was laughing about the shadows casting shadows myself, but instead of mentioning it I thought I'd see if someone noticed. That's what you get for using $50 Sketchup rather than $900 3D Max. ;)
"Modern" seems to be what everyone wants to call this one. I won't argue with that. :)
I'm racing the clock now. The pinup is at 1 pm, it's 11:46 am right now, and I am nearly "done" with them... done in the sense that they'll be presentable, but they still need many more hours work before they're done. Just visual touches, really. Things to make the plans more readable.

Just to share,
I am currently hung up on the location of the handicap water fountain.
Gotta love the ADA.
