As promised when I posted stuff in the listening megathread and got all shouted at, y'know why not make a new thread? They don't cost anything after all. And we're trying to keep TTLG alive aren't we?
I posted a new track to the soundcloud which of course you should all be subscribed to.
Anyway, it's called "Joan (Tax Codes)" which I think is suitably enigmatic. I almost called it "Tax Codes (Joan)". No, really.
It features a sample of some music by a composer called Julius Eastman, who was black and gay and died homeless and alone at the end of the 1980s despite a promising career in the 1970s and early 80s, when these recordings were made. He seems to have suffered slightly from his deliberately provocative nature, giving his pieces titles such as "Evil Nigger", "Crazy Nigger", "Gay Guerilla", "Nigger Faggot" etc.

Ima click on this and it's going to be Kanye, isn't it?

Well that was pretty interesting! I enjoyed the bits post 2:12 until the end. The dissonant ghostly backing vocals were a nice touch. Yikes!
If I could offer a suggestion if you'd ever like to refine it?
I think I might cut the beginning a bit. From 1:23 when you repeat the lyrics with the mixed in samples up until it breaks off at 2:12. I'd almost condense that whole section or cut it out entirely.
I think you could achieve all the added parts less gradually without the whole thing feeling too rushed.
Anyway, this was a pleasure to listen to, so thanks for sharing. I'll check out your other stuff too.

Sounds like some things I did in the mid '80s. More polished of course. Interesting. I think it could be infectious. It's not a tune that grabs you right away. I has to stew...

I think you need to write a song about something real. Something you actually feel. You have the talent but lack something to pin it on. You need to bleed. Bleed to death if you have to. Bleed to death because you want to.

I didnt mind it. But I want to hear more guitar man!

Cheers guys!
Thanks for the structural comments Random_Taffer, I kept modifying the structure of this and I'm not sure it's right yet either, so maybe I'll try your suggestion as one of a number of alternative ideas I had.
Thanks PigLick, I'll get on it (there is a bit of guitar though!!).
Tocky, you obviously just want me to end up dying in obscurity on the streets like Eastman did. I'm not saying it won't happen...
Yo fett, Imma let you finish, but I just want to say that the Kanye thread is one of the best threads of all time.... of all time.

BTW - thanks for your post! I joined the free sound cloud and posted 4 "songs" last night and today. I even have a few likes! Wow, who would have thunk it? ;) None of them are polished in any way. They are old demos I did on a 4 track in the 1980s. I am surprised they still could play. I'm surpassed I could get my tape player to work too.

Nice stuff Fingernail. :) I love the cello and the beat. The guy belting in the background is maybe... a bit much, tho. Think I might prefer it with just your singing.

I was just listening to your other songs. "Tragedy Jar" came on and I was like "damn this is good!" Then I went to Like It on soundcloud only to see that I already had liked it, and that I was the only one to have done so. Fingernail, you should be more famous.
