I think I've wrote here already that the modified Groza (the one that uses the 5.45x39 ammo) is my favourite weapon in SoC). The problem with this weapon is that it's damn hard to get, the only one consistently in the game being held by Barin at the Bar, and killing him to get his weapon is not exactly advisable. So I'm always condemned to follow him around until he wanders to the borders of the Bar and gets mauled by dogs.
More than once, however, I've noticed Sidorovich selling the modified Groza right at the start of the game, a time when the 20.000 Ru he asks for it are a huge sum of money. When I finally get the money, he is no longer selling the weapon. I've read that the trigger that makes the weapon disappear from Sid's catalogue is talking to Wolf after rescuing Nimble. So I've tried this on a number of ocasions, but the damn weapon kept disappearing.
Yesterday I started yet another game, and when I saw Sidorovich selling the Groza at the start, decided to try and get that damn weapon once more. Again, I never talked to Wolf, kept doing missions for Sid, attacked the Army outpost, until finally I got enough money to buy it. Of course, when I got there, he was no longer selling it. Frustrated with yet another failure, I kept going in the Cordon area, exploring it further and doing a few more missions for Sid, yet forgetting that I still hadn't talked to Wolf. A moment ago, I returned to Sid to sell him some stuff, and to my surprise, he had the modified Groza. Having collected more than 36.000 Ru already, (

Now, for the first time ever, I got my favourite and very powerful weapon right at the start of the game. I can't wait to go to the Garbage and Agroprom with it. It will be a walk in the park. Bandits, beware :ebil:
(Sorry for the long post, but Sidorovich's modified Groza was some kind of Stalker's Holy Grail for me, and I've been chasing it for a very, very long time).

There's nothing you can do to guarantee it'll show up; there's only a small chance of it appearing per visit. However, if you talk to Wolf after the Nimble mission, it'll never appear for sale.
In case you didn't know, you can save your game right in front of Sid, then reload until it finally appears. Some people don't like such scummy tactics, but it's a bit silly to do all that work for nothing. Congratulations on a "legit" acquisition, though--I had never had the patience.

Congrats for the feat ;)
But I personally never had problems with Groza's native ammo (thanks to Voronin and Petrenko), so the usual Groza is fine for me.

Wormrat: I just knew that, supposedly, talking to Wolf would make sure that the weapon would never appear. I didn't know about the possibility of reloading until the weapon shows up, but what I did notice, however, was that I could save a game right after seeing the weapon for sale, and when I reloaded the game on another ocasion the weapon would be gone.
242: The normal Groza only becomes available much later in the game, and even though it's possible to get enough ammo for it by doing missions for Duty, it's never as plentiful as the 5.45x39 ammo. Plus, I'm excited for having this weapon so early in the game. When I attack the Military in Agroprom, I'm always wishing that I had this weapon with me, instead of wasting so much ammo with Strelok's modified AK. Now I'll finally be able to wipe them out fast and efficiently :)
