So I finally played through the original System Shock for the first time (I was able to snag a complete CD copy, minus box, on eBay for about $30) and...it was awesome! (But really, did you expect me to say anything else? :cheeky:)
Sneaking through corridors, fighting archaic controls, ignoring pressing school work, it was all great!
Except for the fact that I never got the third e-mail from Rebecca Lansing (the one that tells you to blow up the antenna sites and how to do it). The fact that I figured it out by accident was pure luck.
Also, I found the final battle to be...underwhelming. It probably didn't help that the boss music only plays in SoundBlaster mode and not the superior General MIDI mode I was using. But even despite these problems and Diego's bad voice acting I can't wait to sit down and play through it again!
What a great game!

Funny thing - i've encountered the same email bug when i was re-playing it on Dosbox.

Glad you liked it. :)
When you do decide to play it again, there is a (

Oh wow...you are actually supposed to get an email explaining how to do that? No wonder I was so lost on my first playthrough.

Yeah I remember the e-mail that came in from Rebecca letting me know that SHODAN was planning to download itself into Earth's ComNet, I don't ever recall a playthrough (in all 15 years+ of playing) where that e-mail didn't come through.
Fantastic game, always something new to discover everytime I go through it. :cheeky:

WOW! That's an amazing mod! I've always had trouble getting used to System Shock's controls, but I just played it for about two hours without any frustration whatsoever. The mouse look works PERFECTLY, and the game looks so sharp at 1024x768.
It's amazing the kind of support these games get from the community.

Hey Enchantermon, does that mod work with SS1 portable?

Ah, cool. Scanned the first page of the thread before school today but didn't have time to really look into it. Thanks!
