I played the demo shortly after it came out (back when my computer could barely load it!!) and absoultely loved it.
Then I bought Half Life and Thief, and those took up the next 6 years of my life.
I found a copy of it at Amazon.com for $.92, brand new!! :cheeky:
It should be here tomorrow if I'm lucky.

92 cents?
Better hope you didn't get the "special limited edition"...

It freaks me out that a computer game can in 5 years drop from about $50 to 1 percent of its original price... it only proves how incredibly fast are games getting old. But it has also positive factor for people who can't afford buying games for their initial price.

Indeed. Not being able to afford the game when it first came out, I waited... and waited... then I waited a bit more! Finally picked it up for £10.
Then about a month later they started selling it for £5... :p

I bought mine, in about february (ish), for 5 dollars CDN, as well as Thief 2. Absolutly love it. Over 30 hours in, and I'm just visiting Nicolette Duclare for the first time.
My only regret on this game is that once I play it through, I'll know (most) of the twists and turns. Nothing quite beats the first time you play a game. :D

I have the GOTY edition, and sadly, as our PC and laptop are so damn old (1999 and 2000) that I can't really play it. The PC has a better video card (Riva 128) than the laptop (horrible ATI Rage Mobility M1), but even playing software mode, it stutters like mad. All but unplayable. The demo was playable, so at least I've played Deus Ex. Cool game. It'll have to wait for a modern machine.
Is it easy to install and run on XP and modern video cards?
DarkForge on 9/4/2006 at 09:46
Neil: I've got XP Pro and a GeForce 4 MX (also had a GeForce 3), and the game runs great. No trouble installing either.
My old computer (Pentium II with Win98 SE and a ATI Rage Pro) did have trouble running it (it crashed as soon as I received my first Infolink message). IIRC a driver update finally got it working, but there were some graphical glitches. Trees and plants looked like 2 flat squares slotted together. I saw only black whenever using binoculars or a weapon's scope, rendering them useless. I also didn't have a compass. The game was still playable but it definitely got annoying.
I don't know if you've tried updating drivers. If not, then it could help, but the game still might not be perfect. Really you'd need to try a better machine. XP and more recent video cards should hopefully ensure a a nice smooth game.
