But my point is, while those three things are, granted stupid - they work well together in a whimsical, stupid way that I personally enjoyed.
Hot Fuzz is a good movie, granted - but for some reason I can't ejaculate over it like everyone else seems to.
Same with Shaun of the Dead - its a fun, quirky movie but I watched it once and that was it. I'd be quite happy to sit down and watch In Bruges with a beer (Belgian, natch) and enjoy it on repeat.
We've always disagreed on movie choices though ;)
I stand by my number 1 choice though - The Fountain is far and away my favourite and indeed all-round awesome movie of the last decade. Heck, its even in my top 3 of all time, ie:
1. Grosse Pointe Blank
2. Usual Suspects
3. The Fountain

Not at all dissing your bold choice of The Fountain, I really need to rewatch it (on bluray) to reassess it's true position on my list as I truly loved it on a single watch. This becomes part of the problem in being a cinephile, keeping up to date whilst finding time to revisit classics/greats/might-be-greats.

I should have liked it. I mean it's up my street and all, and people who share like of other films with me liked it. But I found it so far up its own arse I hated it.
Aaaanyway.
I forgot one which has to has to be on my list. Primer. Just having the balls to make this film gets it on the list. I remember when I found the timeline in Millennium complicated. Noooooooooo...

I was thinking about putting Primer on my list; but for some reason i couldn't bring myself to and the 10 films I ultimately chose are, in my opinion much more watchable and I can enjoy them for what they are.
Primer on the other hand is a frakking brilliant movie for its cleverness and sheer ballsness in making it. However its not on my top 10 list - its definitely in the top 20 films of the decade for me, but the fact that it took me ages to figure it out then read countless websites debating it and also since I cant really discuss it with my "real life" friends since very few of them actually heard about it pushes it outside my list. Plus its not really something you can pick up and enjoy for an hour or so (unlike, say In Bruges).
Actually, I watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang last night which has Val Kilmer and Robert Downey Junior - a very funny and refreshing movie which I'd completely missed when it first came out.
Also I'd like to add this is a most marvellous thread and there are many great suggestions on here which had passed me by and which now mean I'm going to have several very enjoyable evenings catching up on such movies as The Machinist, Memento and Touching The Void which believe it or not I've never seen!

All
ridiculous good reasons for not having a movie in your top ten.
I'll revise my list, stat.

Just to drag this one back from the depths of page 2, a couple of additions that I was surprised not to see mentioned were:
Man on Wire - Almost every review I read about this doco talked about how moving it was when you saw the climactic scenes of the walk between the twin towers, and I was skeptical. But it's truly a beautiful moment, one that packed a really surprising punch, considering it's just footage of a man on a wire set to the three gymnopedies.
21 Grams - Sean Penn really has to be a terribly underrated actor, as he has been turning out performances of this caliber for a while with relatively less attention compared to many other actors around now. This film does rely on the gimmick of the convoluted storyline, but it was device that lent significant tension to the movie, and the acting was really top notch.
No Country for Old Men was also my pick for the best of the decade, just such a potent piece of cinema.

Tie between The Proposition, Let the right one in, L'ennemi intime, In the mood for love.
All fantastic movies in their own genre.
