I'd like to see a good folder synch.
So when I have new music on my desktop, and I wanna update my laptop, I just want a 1 click "Update and synchronize folders?" kinda thing going on. It's a pain in the ass to make updates to each. Sometimes I get new music on the laptop, and I want it on the desktop computer as well.
Edit, kingofthenet, there's a program called "Eraser" out there that does that sort of thing. It's a pain in the ass for big files, because it takes a long time to overwrite the data like 35 times. Google "eraser" and you should find the program. It works well.

@kingofthenet : For file deletion, the file manager would have to overwrite and delete the disk space as much as 20 times to remove the faint magnetical residue. It'd be easier to encode the data you want protected.
Insufficient. Your sensitive data could be paged to disk and sit unencrypted in the swap file. Plus (at least in the UK) police can demand your decryption keys.

I'm sure I would use drag-and-drop more often if the folder tree had a (configurable) zoom function like the dock in Mac OS X. As it is now, on a high resolution, I often drop files into the wrong folder. One of the reasons why prefer cordless mice. I guess it can't be done in Windows until Vista comes out.
I also miss Opera's mouse gestures. A hundred times a day I call up the context menu, when I just wanted to go back.
I like the way you can split the right-hand pane in Konqueror with one button. That's much better than opening another window and resizing/arranging it. The same goes for a commandline pane.

(Also, replace NTFS with proper journalised file system. It doesn't matter how good the new search tools are in Vista are gonna be, or how bad they are in XP, if search results arn't instant)
Not gonna happen, because there's no operating system support for file systems other than iso9660, FAT and NTFS in Windows. Also, Indexing Service.

When I hover over a file I get a little info box. How about a better contextual info box with previews and author details and other usefull stuff, and not just for files, but for drives and folders too.
Windows does that already for certain file types (ie. mp3), and the whole thing seems to be extensible/customisable as well - if you're using OpenOffice, .odt files will show the author name and last change date in the file tooltip.
[edit] Actually, weirdly enough it shows detailed info for mp3 for me in the XP fluff sidebar (which I quite like much of the time, actually, aside from getting in the way of a folder tree), but not in the tooltip. What the hell? [/edit]

If you have Windows XP, you may want to just download (
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx) SyncToy. I use it for my external hard drive, memory cards, and occasional transfer between network PCs and works quite well.

Synchronizing folders is all well and good, but most of the time I'll just throw the whole thing in there and overwrite the duplicates.
A task somewhat more difficult is removing the same files afterwards. Therefore I'd like a function where if a file in folder A also exists in folder B, the file in folder B is deleted. Combine this with a built-in zip manager for Great Justice.
Other neat things would be the ability to swap filenames of files in the same folder, or swap files with the same filename.

I think we already cleared that up on IRC some time. NC interface clones may be good in situations where there's extremely limited input capabilities (eg. in DOS with only the keyboard), but I don't like them too much in general. Plus, we're talking about Windows, where the mouse offers a huge freaking set of input capabilities.
Basically, I don't like TC because it uses an interface paradigm that's ten years obsolete in desktop computing, plus a particularly ugly version of it.
