Todays non-sequitur hyperbole award goes to kolya!
Now, see: I was assuming that the reason football had referees was to have an ostensibly neutral third party present to oversee fair play, and identify fouls, dead balls and so on as such, as and when they occur. Because sometimes it's hard to tell.
And I was assuming that the reason we trained those referees was so that they would do that more effectively than an untrained person. Because sometimes it's hard to tell.
And thus if we could use technology to make some of those calls accurately and unambiguously, this would be even better. Because sometimes it's hard to tell.
But apparently we could maybe save on time by not training referees at all, because referee mistakes are an integral, nay essential, part of the game! Yay for mistakes!
:weird:

Yeah, like I said I wanted to do away with referees.
Didn't we just have that? Someone trying to turn this thing around in the same cheapo fashion?
90% - 95% of referee decisions are correct (channeling DFB chief Zwanziger here).
You're the one who cannot live with the rest and therefore wants to change the game.

You can keep on ignoring that football isn't (just) for TV
Just out of interest Kolya, what football teams have you/did you support? I ask because you keep banging on about me either having never attended a game (false assumption as stated above) or being seduced by the televisual glitz of modern higher-league football (also false, given that the team in question that I went to see was current Blaxnit Cup holders (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ards_FC) Ards FC); I think the only time they have managed to get on television was a 30-second clip when they won the League Cup final (and my arm appeared from out of shot to shake the manager's hand - fame at last!).
I fully expect you to point me to your first post and say 'learn to read numpty' or something, but the reason I ask the question is to try to figure out why you think that you're more in touch with the spirit and ethos of non-league football than the rest of us.
Also, which argument of yours are we now working with? The one that referees have to be unchallenged in authority, the need for football rules to be the same for every single game (because we've never had an optional rule, (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_goal) oh no), or the fact that referees making uninformed decisions makes good tabloid fodder the next day?

If you have a problem with several arguments supporting my view I cannot help it, Matthew.
Regarding a club I've visited games of: That would be Der 1. FC Köln. As I said, I don't consider myself a fan. The people I do consider fans are better known as ultras. That's where I get my views on the game and made a few good friends.

Jesus Christ. Can't you just get that using line tech would make the game fairer in cases where refs make mistakes? This isn't Sunday afternoon football we're talking about and it isn't just a fan thing. You do realise how much money is involved here, don't you? No one is asking for the soul of football to be sacrificed but ffs at the World Cup it's not too much to ask that when someone scores a goal it's counted.
Shut up.

You people realize this is like religion right?
No one has the ultimate word here, being a fanatic is not really logical, at all.

I often wondered what goes on in your pointy eared head, SubJeff. You stampede into threads like some cute little pony, blindfolded to arguments left and right, then stomp your tiny hooves on the ground (leaving tiny clover-shaped imprints) and demand that others need to SHUT UP! or GET THE FUCK OUT! What's that all about?
Anyhow, I specifically addressed the problem of "how much money is involved" before, and as you can see, I don't think this should be the deciding factor. Now run little pony! Wheeee! :D

I don't, but it would be nice if you defended all of them instead of jumping between them.

As long as they don't have offsides / fouls checked on video replay constantly I'm sure something workable could be arranged. I admit I enjoy the World Cup drama as much as anyone, but when you miss obvious goals it's a bit concerning

Fucking
hell...a 5-10% error rate is atrocious. I had no idea it was that bad.
For the record, Kolya: would you mind stating exactly
why using some kind of non-human based line-judging tech is so abhorrent to you?
Because I can't tell if you actually
like the inherent human-derived error rate, or are simply waging some sort of terminator-esque 'war against the machines'.
