Aargh I've never been so sad about a victory before.
I'm thrilled that we beat the 6th ranked team but being out already (though expected) is still sad.
And everyone hates France already - you'd think they could throw us a bone. I'm sure our government would have been happy to offer them passports and houses in Bryanston for a dive. :)

I really don't like football but these bozos made it the first time I actually got interested in a World Cup. What an epic clusterfuck... :tsktsk:
Sorry Shayde and the rest of SA :(

Adieu à la française, you have made the early rounds very interesting in a political sense :cheeky:
Goodbye Bafana Bafana, every game a carnival :D
Αντίο ΕλλάδαA solid defence until fatigue set in!
Goodbye Nigeria, another exciting African team

Come On England!
Don't disappoint us Scots and show us a consistent display from the Algeria game :p
Just kidding actually, I lived in your society for 4+ years so best of luck*

England are resorting to having Brian Blessed (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jnoz2gp6QrM) read Shakespeare to them for motivation. They really should beat Slovenia, but on the plus side they're not as bad as France! Their coach refused to shake hands with the South African coach after the game, which is a big no-no in football. It's even more petty when you consider he's lost his job anyway so has to try and be nice to people from now on.
thefonz on 23/6/2010 at 11:39
England should have Brian Blessed play for them instead - would add to the entertainment.
Sofar the only teams that really do it for me in this World Cup are Argentina and Uruguay - both are playing like they geniuenly want to win it with some truly freeform, flowing football - aside from the other teams who seem to be there for the sake of it (yes i'm including you, Brazil, in that sweeping generalisation).
I'm going to support Uruguay for the rest of this methinks - assuming England get knocked out today after a draw since I'm sure USA will win over Algeria.

So the US of A got shafted, again. :tsktsk: Man, that's gotta sting.
Namdrol on 23/6/2010 at 15:51
England runners up.
States top the group.
You'd have had good odds on that a few weeks ago.

Jeez, my fingers nails are down to the knuckles......
Well done USA also

It must suck to be Slovenian right now, beaten to the quarter finals by the USA on overtime.
