So why did Vidic only get a yellow card, when Khune got a red one? Even though the Italian referee is really card-happy. Hmmm

Italian referee
Spanish, actually. Also, rubbish.
dj_ivocha on 18/6/2010 at 13:45
Oh, that he was, no idea why I said Italian.
Also they showed a replay of the situation a bit later and there wasn't a German player behind Vidic so he wasn't actually preventing a possible goal when he decided to play goalkeeper.
In any case, it was a rather entertaining game and however it had ended, it wouldn't have been undeserved IMO. We need more games like this, or even better ones.
Let's hope France make it to the round of 16 so we can see some REAL futbol!

Yay, go Team USA! I hope they get far! Also hoping England doesn't get far after hearing the arrogant comments from Rooney.

That disallowed goal for the US was a scandalous refereeing decision. It was such a well worked set-piece as well. It looked great in slow motion.

Because Vidic didn't deny a goalscoring opportunity. However he did handle the ball in the area and it was a deliberate action of the hand, hence a penalty kick.

arrogant |ˈarəgənt|
adjective
having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities
What am I missing here?

The bit where he's not exaggerating.
England are much better than Algeria and they should rout them, even if not playing at their best.

Like better than USA? I know, cheap shot, sorry, but when seen so many surprises this far, comments such as those, I consider arrogant.

There's a huge difference between being the better team and winning. cf Spain's humiliation the other day.
