Well, it came faster than I thought. Some days to the start. Even though I'm brazilian myself, I hope that England will win.
I saw a study in a magazine once. Soccer in England are more watched internally than brazilian games. And there is a 'small' difference of population, 51,446,000 for England and 192,272,890 for Brazil.
Brazil was the 'Soccer Country' was a image falsely created by Edison Arantes do Nascimento (Pelé), 'The King of Soccer' and several other players. The study on the magazine also 'suggested' that the only fact that made Brazil gain this status were our good players.
Plus, well, England is the true soccer country. More people watch soccer games and go to the stadiums there than here.
So, well, win this thing, will ya? :thumb:

Only Brazil have managed to win this tournament outside of their own continent (three times if you include North America in 1994) so I'd go with them.
I think England have a worse team than last time round but with a ballsier manager which might actually give them more of a winning chance overall. I just can't see it though. Anyways, I'm supporting Spain and Ivory Coast :p
I'm loving the new stadiums built for this tournament. And the old Ellis stadium.

I'll go for whatever team dazzles me the most. It's the world's game so I don't go in with any preconceived ideas about who should win, not least because I think nationalism is kind of stupid.
That said, I'll just contradict myself and say I'm obviously backing the Socceroos.

I've been touting my unpopular opinion for months: Brazil over England in the final, via the magic of penalty shoot-out.
Also predicting RSA is the first host in forever to not make it out of Group. Mexico and France on the Round 2, and there's gonna be some angry words muttered about handballs.
(yes, I've probably told some of you this before)
So, um.... ENGLAND HOORAY!*
* I'm a sucker for thwarted prophecy!

No matter when or what. Germany always has a 50%+ chance of winning any Football cup.

Well it's the law that Germany get to the final of every tournament every time!
Unless a strong host nation features like when France won, it's the same four teams that continue to win the modern trophy time and time again.
Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany. Every four years I hope for a surprise but it never happens.

Last week there was a promotion in Media Markt (the biggest electronics discounter in Europe) in Germany - buy a TV and get a rebate after the World Cup, depending on how far Germany makes it.
Round of 16: 10% off
Quarterfinals: 15% off
Semifinals: 20% off
Final: 25% off
Germany wins: 100% off
I didn't buy and don't even need one, so I don't care who wins. So I'm with Scots - rooting for whichever team plays the most beautiful football.

And it´s so frustrating seeing them fail after getting so far. This time my hopes are particularly low.
That´s why I´m taking the girl approach this time: Root for the best looking team which usually means Sweden. Since Sweden didn´t qualify I probably need to go for craziest haircut/shiniest soccer shoes instead.
Of course rooting for every team that Cristiano Ronaldo does not play on is a must.
No World Cup with Olof Mellberg or Freddi Ljungberg :(
