Ladies and Gents, I've been asked to go to V-Festival. I've never been to a festival, mainly because I'm always put off by pictures of people at Glastonbury in the torrential rain up to their knees in cack of one description or another, whilst trying to see a stage which is a speck in the distance.
On one hand, I like:
* Live Music
* Good Times
* Beer
* Kasabian
* Kings of Leon
On the other hand, I'm not a huge fan of:
* Shitting in a filthy portaloo I've had to queue for
* Wet Tents
* Rain
* Hippies
* Being ripped off
* Festival Knobheads
* Florence and the Machine
Are festivals really all they're cracked up to be? People say,"You must do it Once!" I suppose it comes down to whether the experience is going to outweigh the toilet and sleeping arrangements. What do you reckon? Had good/bad experiences?

Had a great time at Glastonbury 10yrs ago despite it being a summer of mud. I'd do it again.

Just fucking go, they're awesome. All the negative factors you mention can be negated by drinking six pints and screaming YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAARRRRHHHH at the top of yr lungs until you feel unhinged enough to dance like the mentally ill.

Been to a few Ren Fairs in my time. Last go-round I a grand old time, wasn't ripped off or anything, got a copy of The Golden Bough (fascinating read in small chunks, it's pretty dense) and got a hot dog almost as big as my schl-
AHEM
So yeah just drink a lot of beer and scream a lot and you'll have fun.

I don't know about V (well, as far as I know it's good, yet unimaginative, prolly good for a newcomer), but the best things in a year are the festivals. I personally don't mind getting dirty or queueing (albeit I never have queued for too long), so it helps. There's nothing better than being constantly drunk and high for a weekend (what is odd is that my hangovers seem quite absent in festivals, psychological stuff I presume!) and occasionally seeing some artists. There's just something special coming from Venetian Snares' breakcore barrage to see Mike Patton playing 60's italian music.
(

Just go you big baby, nobody looks back from their death bed wishing that they had done fewer things.

Ah, nothing like a smack round the chops from Uncle Stitch ;)
I've agreed to go, just waiting to hear from the person buying the tickets if she's managed to get them.

Queensday's pretty special. I lived in and around Leiden for a couple of years in the early '90s and it was a highlight of my time in the Netherlands.
