Soundgarden werent grunge, nor pearl jam or most of the bands of that era. Realistically it was Nirvana and Alice in Chains, and Nirvana stole most of their stuff from bands like Dinosaur Jnr and Pixies, Sonic Youth.
So grunge was an ill-fitting label trying to pigeon hole a diverse range of guitar based rock.
Agreed. I remember reading how Kim Thayil hated the label.

The "immersive sim" of rock genres?

I think that there are many who would argue that Plush by STP is the near definition of the grunge sound, so there is that.

lmao! :cheeky:
Hey man, good music is good music.
I know there were a bunch of "alternative-type" bands that jumped on the grunge wagon, but I still think Bush was great!
oh shi *and* Oasis. They rocked!
SubJeff on 27/5/2017 at 22:53
Oasis were bollocks of the highest order. Supersonic was their only good track, everything else is turgid larger-lado flavoured indie crap, repetitive and unoriginal pap too. Half their riffs are nicked of The Beatles.
Bush were dull as dishwater.
I don't like Mudhoney either.

Fair enough, but to a young American at the time, it was pretty amazing. The only thing I didnt like coming from over there, at the time, was... oh god the spice girls.
