Quite sad about his passing. I listen to his stuff across Audioslave and Soundgarden quite regularly. Sad days.

Euphoria Morning was basically on repeat during my divorce. His stuff really carried me through.
Euphoria Morning is one of my favorite albums of all time...it's one of those rare gems. I've always had a special affinity with it.

Nice tribute...and I say that as a fellow guitar player...:thumb:

Thanks, bud. Can't hold a candle to him, of course. The whole thing just doesn't feel real. I've been listening through his stuff and here and there for a second I forget he's gone. I just saw him!

On another note: I'm on a train and Pretty Noose has just come on. I'd like to think Chris would see the funny dark side to that.
PS. All the grunge vocalist heros are gone now. :( And all too young.
Mark Lanegan and Mark Arm haven't joined Alice Mud Tree Garden yet. I sure hope this particular supergroup stays disbanded for the time being.
Chris went far and wide beyond grunge though. His voice, as much as Layne's, was simply inimitable. It really feels like an end to a generation. Dang :(
OART - Mark Lanegan just released a new LP last month, and it is every bit as good as I hoped. Got me back into blues.

Last I checked, Eddie Vedder (and the rest of Pearl Jam) were alive and doing well too.

In my mind the four big ones were Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots (which you missed st.patrick!) and Soundgarden.
All the vocalists are now gone.
I suppose I should include Pearl Jam but meh, I just can't. Don't get me wrong - I like them and I think Ten has some amazing tracks on it (I'm going to load it up in Spotify for my commute actually) - but they're just not grungy enough. Just mho though.

I agree with Subjective.
Pearl Jam was more "rock" than "grunge".

God this album is good. Jeremy has just finished, Release is starting.
Brethren, you got a GMD & SE bifecta agreeing on ejecting Pearl Jam from the house of grunge. I think that's checkmate.

Soundgarden werent grunge, nor pearl jam or most of the bands of that era. Realistically it was Nirvana and Alice in Chains, and Nirvana stole most of their stuff from bands like Dinosaur Jnr and Pixies, Sonic Youth.
So grunge was an ill-fitting label trying to pigeon hole a diverse range of guitar based rock.
