it's prefect!
Is that a sly recommendation for the Hitchhiker's Guide?

Some early Stargate SG-1 is good for a laugh. It's got O'Niell, pretty much the funniest thing to happen to Sci-Fi in a while.

Try the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency. It's only a once a week series on HBO, but it is definetely "Feel Good".

Glad you like it. I was getting back into it maybe 2-3 years ago and then lost my way around season 2 or so. One day I need to come back and finish that damn series.

I think it's the last season when they
change good 'ol Fleischman for a new couple of doctors
, that one doesn't have so much charm, but until then, Northern Exposure is the perfect substitute for a dozen of kittens cuddling and snoozing on your pillow.

I never made it that far, but for sure Fleischman is what gives a lot of the show it's charm because it's the whole "city guy out of his element in the country full of whackos" kitsch and we relate to him in some ways but to the rest of the characters in others, which gives it the charm.

I don't like Fleischman at all, he's a whiny bitch, i find it very hard to relate to him most of the time, i just hope there's gonna be a bit of character development when it comes to him.. The other characters are extremely likeable.

There is a lot of character development on Fleischman. Although he always keeps the right amount of 'fleishman-ness' to give you the cynical/critical eye on the loon town that Cicely is (you can actually notice him starting to change on the very first episode, when he wakes up and steps outside, only to be flabbergasted with the scenery). It is a bit exaggerated on the first episodes, but that's quite acceptable since he's new in town. And it's that cynical eye of his, completely out of touch with the place, that makes the series work, in my opinion. Besides, almost every single discussion between Fleischman and O'Connell or every 'monologue' between him and Marylin are priceless.
I actually quite like Fleischman, because I can imagine myself having the same kind of reaction he has when he arrives to Cicely. And then, like him, learning how to enjoy such a place. If I had to pick the character that I dislike the most (not meaning that I don't enjoy seeing him on the series, it's just someone whom I really wouldn't get along with if I'd know him) then it would be Maurice. On the other hand, Chris and Ed are immediately likeable.
