I love working in the JupiterEX engine and its level editor. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's pretty nice. And definately a lot better than Source :p
Have fun
You work with it very often?
charlestheoaf on 20/6/2007 at 05:53
I worked with it almost daily for a few months, but I haven't done much with it since.
I don't know if you've found this place yet, but FEAR Maps is a pretty good mapping community with a lot of helpful people. I don't know if it's still very active, but there will at least be a lot of tutorials up in the forums from long ago.

Yeah I found it, and no nobody is really helpful anymore there. There are just a lot of kids running around going "I TRIED TO MAKE A BOX AND IT WORKED BUT THEN IT DOESNT WORK ANYMORE WHAT THE HECK WORLDEDIT IS BUGGED"
I asked two questions got no help, ended up figuring it all out myself. :nono:

Figuring stuff out on your own is a good way to learn an editor, the information gets more stuck in your head. ;)

True, very true.
I'm working on some little fun things right now, there are two hanging lights in the beginning where you spawn, when the window breaks I want the lights to sway a little and flicker.
Instead of the air duct falling down to the ladder, I think I'll have it get sucked towards the window too...lots of things going on in my head for this right now for sure :thumb:
I'll have screen shots coming real soon, just working out some of the prefabs like the cryo tube...its not as easy as I first thought, but thats what this is all for :D learning!

You're adding a lot more to MedSci than the default version has, which is fantastic. Looking more and more forward to screenies.

I need a favor from somebody in the community.
I need screen shots, massive ammounts of screen shots of medsci, starting from when yous tart the game, cover the entire area, every angle you can get, moving on to the entire level.
My DromEd doesn't like Vista very much :( and now I have nothing to reference other then from my head, and thats pretty foggy lol

Screenshots are not going to be enough. You need to be able to look in every direction from all angles yourself and check textures, alignment, object placement and level mood (including lighting). Screenshots are too static for that.
Are you unable to run SS2 at all? There are some posts here about how to get it working on Vista and you'll be much better off in the long term if you can get it working yourself.

Running SS2 on WinVista is very possible, and sometimes even easier than XP or 2000.

I'll try to get it working on Vista, but for the most part I know a lot of the object placement.
*yawn* wow, the FEAR editor sure can be....difficult. I have had problems doing some of the basic things that I can do in DromEd in WorldEdit, but I know its possible seeing these tutorial levels people have made with the awesome design...so I'm just truckin along...
