What are some of your favourite gaming moments of 2016? I'm not necessarily talking about entire games, more the individual moments that remind you why gaming is one of your favourite hobbies.
I'm sure there are more, but I can mainly think of these:
* The whatthefuck?! ending of
INSIDE, best described (
http://ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136785&p=2339895&viewfull=1#post2339895) here by henke.
*
SUPERHOT VR: Grabbing that Uzi with my right hand, shooting the bad guy to my left, grabbing his shotgun out of the air, turning right and shooting two other bad guys simultaneously with the guns I'm double-wielding. I felt like I was John Wick, even if I probably looked closer to (

* Trying to remain undiscovered in the underground lab in
Hitman's Sapienza mission. Part James Bond, part Nutty Professor.
* Not so much any individual moment, but I had some great times this year playing
GTA and
Arma with TTLG mates. And yes, that includes the time that henke blew us all up with a satchel charge. To be fair, he also killed the enemy units in the process.

Oh good, I'm glad we're not listing games yet, I'm still pruning my list.
Moments:
-Yup, TTLG Crew's co-op adventures are definitely a highlight. :)
-taking part in both of the Idle Thumbs forums' game jams this year. (we should totally have a TTLG game jam at some point, you guys!)
-playing my first Hololens game, Fragments, last week.
-the moment in Quadrilateral Cowboy when I first programmed a sniper rifle to fire whenever I blinked. The Watch_Dogs games wishes they could make hacking feel this badass. (don't get me wrong, WD2 was still a better overall game)
And yeah I can imagine Superhot VR being pretty incredible, the non-VR version was great enough on it's own. The Oculus Rift+Touch is looking pretty swell, guess I'll have to get one eventually.

On Oculus Rift and Touch (and I'm sure the same can be said for Vive): I was a VR convert before Touch, but it was mainly that I could see the potential, when in practice that potential was only there in a handful of cockpit-based games like Elite or Dirt Rally. Sure, VR is cool and there are lots of nice demos that work when sitting, but I wouldn't have recommended current-gen VR to anyone who wasn't already pretty convinced. It felt like the kind of gear that's mainly cool to early adoptors.
With motion controls, though, and even relatively little space to move (in my case roughly 1.5x2m), it becomes something entirely different and, for me at least, mindblowing. The sense of presence that comes with being able to move around as you do in regular reality (even if only a bit) and with interacting with the world with your hands is insane.
P.S.: Fun moment from demoing SUPERHOT VR to my wife yesterday, with me standing next to her to make sure she doesn't get tangled in cables: I was looking at the screen, seeing her first-person view of the game as she's shooting and punching the bad dudes' heads clear off - so I don't see it coming when she punches me in the chin, because it seems I was standing exactly where one of the enemies was standing. Talk about tactile in-game feedback! At least my head didn't come off.

Witcher 3 - Blood and Wine
Looking out across the sunny horizon from your vineyard with Triss / Yennefer by your side, as the finale for the "Blood and Wine" DLC for Witcher 3. Knowing that you've reached the end of the road for the Witcher games (assuming you played the main game then did the DLC in order). For me it left a similar feeling to that of reaching the end of a watch through of a good series of films / end of a good tv show.

Let's see. This year was indie heavy. (I made a point of playing an itch game like 3-5 days a week.) And I'm woefully behind the times. But whatever.
- Playing Little Inferno on a touchpad PC, so I could actually dangle things into the fire and swirl them around with my finger.
- Reportedly being the first to actually find henke's Paradise.
- Arriving at the alien immigration office in North literally the day before my visit to Japan's immigration office. The punchline of that game about the absurd parody of trying to be a good citizen in an alien land hit home.
- The TDM FM Behind Closed Doors brought back a lot of old magic.

- Fighting Prince Lothric in Dark Souls 3.
- Hearing this while walking down Beauclair in Blood and Wine : (

- Entering the Gallery in Morbid Curiosity (Thief 2 FM).
- Getting to Modoc in Fallout 2 and realising what a great game it is.

Turning in No Man's Sky after the first hour playing.

Yeah, turning is one of the few features that made it in.
