Because it doesn't actually work, perhaps? ;)

I was going to say, the implant s a bit dumb, because it would mean essentially that only long distances would it work-ie, rec hall and... er....
...
...
....yeah. :p

No, it was because it made it way too easy to kill annelid creatures. I could kill the arachnids without them ever noticing me.

I guess they couldn't get the distance nailed down-I'd assume the game's ai works on the basis 'If he's in my LOS I can see him' so there's no in-between for the implant.

Certainly not.
The Dark Engine has one of the most complex AI perception configuration of any game. Every AI has multiple overlapping vision cones with different sizes and accruities, allowing them to see differently at different distances and light levels.

...hm. I wonder why they couldn't get it to work then. I guess it was just time constraints.

Or it was simply too powerful implant for gameplay reasons.

In it's current state, yes. Presumably "couldn't get it to work" refers at least in part to balancing out issues such as it being over-powered.

I barely used implants (none of them organics), I feared they might damage my reputation with most metallic hybrid women (midwives).

lol, I don't think Bloome would be interested unless you were willing to accept her kids and were a good father. :p
The wormheart is a decent idea too, but 1 health per 30 seconds isn't especially good imo. Should have made it more 1 every ten, perhaps even five, seconds.
