I'm sure we've all heard about this already, and my main point is simple. Who the hell can eat THAT MUCH?!!? Yikes!
Plus, I guess politicians are the same everywhere, dirty bastards. I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I had eaten all that while discussing what they did.

What's the big deal?
edit: if there's a pun in that sentence it was not intended

I'd be more concerned about the waste of money than the waste of food. What these fancy restaurants call a "course" barley passes as a snack. Some pissy little wanky slice of meat with an artistic line of sauce that cost half a normal persons weekly wage. Seriously, i could eat a dozen of these "courses" and still be left like Oliver asking "Please Sir, can i have some more?". Feed me dammit!! FEED MEEEEEE!!!

That just made me feel jealous that I wasn't there. The food sounded fantastic. It'd be a sad day for mankind if this kind of opulence were banned because someone else is starving. Imho you either allow luxuries or you don't.

What the fuck is corn-stuffed caviar?

Fish eggs stuffed with some kind of cereal based product at a guess.
Mind I'm no cook...

I can't eat that much and keep it down. :(
However, most of what is on the menu appears to be seafood and fish, which is not the most filling thing in the world. Personally, I think that it is the money that is wasted, not so much the food. People with sizable income generally need to blow their cash on stuff, even if what they spend their money on is questionable. Why a government would do this is beyond me.

Do both of you order everything on the menu every time? Who foots your bills?

Oh come on, you can't honestly not see the fact that the huge irony is the point of the article. They aren't suggesting a blanket ban on expensive foods, it's simply the fact that it's a real story that could easily be an Onion article.
