Hi
Somehow i have missed out on Arx Fatalis all these years and now i stumbled upon a budget release in a discounter and because i heard from a friend that he liked it i bought it and played it.. and immediately fell in love :).
What a wonderfull game... though i had several problems like broken EAX etc.. but i got them solved.
Now i have a very "fatal" problem.
I played to the point where you solve the troll problem then got back to the town and wanted to reenter the castle and boom fatal memory error.. i tried every tip i could find in here and the whole internet ( aka friendly aunt google ). vcache is configured, new graphic drivers, reinstall and restarting an earlier savegame and play to the same point.. then it worked i could play again.. got past the council session and then i wanted to go to the tavern and voila.. same thing loading tavern area at 3/4 loading bar "Fatal memory error" again..
Again i tried everything i could, but i don't want to try replaying the whole part of the game yet again if i cannot make sure that it woun't happen again.
If anyone has any clue, please let me know.. if someone can tell me "your savegame status is broken, do this fix that, then replay the game and you will be save" i will do it.. but i cannot start again if i have to expect to crash just at a different point...
*cries* i really like this game.. i wanna play it, please help me :).

Just to be sure, is the game patched to version v1.17?
If it's a re-release then it may already be the latest version, but that's not always the case, and a great many bugs were fixed in the Arx patches.

Yes it is *sigh*.. i already contacted the developer if they can tell me what HEX code i should look for in the save game to fix this but as expected no answer :).

Yes, one suspects that if they were able to give an answer to a question like that, there would be a v1.18.

I am experiencing the exact same problems as you!!! The differences for me being that I am running Win Vista Business on a laptop with a Core 2 Duo processor. I've got 2 gigs of ram, so I'm not sure what the problem is!!! The other thing is that I downloaded the game through Steam. No idea what version I'm running, but since its off Steam, I'm assume its the patched version. Great game, but the stupid thing keeps crashing every 5 mins with the "Fatal Memory Error" warning. Has anyone who is having this problem, found a solution yet? This is such a fun game...I don't want to quit due to frustration...:mad:

Is it the original game or the patched one ?
