So.. The Beta Grove ran into the mysterious Third Moon of Lh'owon, got transported by whatever moved it in the first place due to its attachment, and presumably got dropped somewhere close enough to Tau Ceti for it to beat the Von Braun there with enough free time to be Many-fied?
Sounds like the best theory i've heard.

Wouldn't that be the S'pht'Kr, not the Jjarro?

The Jjarro are the ones who gave the S'pht their technology, are they not?
If so, then it seems logical that the S'pht'Kr would have taken the third moon (Which I assume they used for transportation.) and rooted around for their Messiahs: The Jjarro. This could've happened BEFORE the terminals you find in the S'pht tower, since it hard to tell exactly how long the war might've lasted. Our own wars can stretch out for years when occupying a single country or region.. So imagine an entire planet.
Another possibility is that the S'pht'Kr had somehow gained prior knowladge of the Pfor invasion, and set out to try and find the Jjarro before their planet was overtaken. (The Eleven Clans werent united until towards the end of the war, so they might've set out on their own instead of spending however much time on getting everyone to participate on the search.)
Ahh, but this is just wild, baseless speculation.

Well, based on M2 and Mi, the timeline is something like this:
- Yrro and Pthia create the S'pht to help terraform Lh'owon.
- battle with the W'rkncacnter. Pthia dies; Yrro gives Lh'owon to the S'pht ("take your royalty to guide you, and live upon this paradise you built for me") and splits them into the eleven clans, then vanishes.
- war between the clans; the S'pht'Kr abandon Lh'owon for K'lia, and "build a new home apart from their warring brothers". They leave behind a message indicating that when the remaining ten clans have once again united peacefully, the S'pht'Kr will return.
- a thousand years ("one thousand and one orbits") pass. The S'pht'Kr become legends ("a memory, lost upon the battlefield smoke").
- K'lia vanishes "with a technology that folded space". Thoth implies that he(?it) did this, detecting the approach of the Pfhor; S'pht terminals state that "the all-powerful Yrro sent K'lia out to the stars", but since Yrro is one of their gods and creators they may be speaking metaphorically, rather than stating that Yrro, personally, activated K'lia's stardrive. It is however clear that this happened before the Pfhor arrived.
- the Pfhor arrive and enslave the remaining ten clans. The leaders of the ten clans solve the S'pht'Kr riddle, but are killed before they can activate Thoth and call out to the S'pht'Kr for aid.
- much later, Mjolnir Recon 54 arrives and activates Thoth, who calls the S'pht'Kr. From this point on it really does not go at all well for the Pfhor.
There's no indication that the S'pht'Kr found any of the Jjarro; if they did, then either they didn't return to Lh'owon with the S'pht'Kr, or did not care to make their presence known. It's strongly implied that by the time of Marathon, the Jjarro have effectively washed their hands of events in this galaxy, so while the 'Kr could likely have found and salvaged Jjarro tech, it's unlikely that they met any living Jjarro. (We know that such tech exists, though; it's hinted that the Mjolnir-class cyborgs were based on scraps of Jjarro cyberware, and post-M2 Durandal gets his hands on a Jjarro dreadnought he names Manus Celer Dei. And of course there's that mucking great station orbiting Lh'owon itself.)
At any rate, there's nothing to say that in between departing Lh'owon prior to the arrival of the Pfhor, and returning to apply vast amounts of smackdown, they couldn't have made a stop in the outskirts of Sol system and given Beta Grove a helping hand. :D

Why must I be drug out of SS2 land here?
Mayhaps the Beta Grove was displaced by an incoming/exiting ship from Z-Space, and got released next to Tau Ceti?
Or the Jjaro, S'pht'Kr, or the Pfor.
Or Yog-Sothoth?
