IMO, what with the quality of the voice actors which Bethesda felt did such a great job with Oblivion they just had to use again, much of the dialogue in FO3 would have been better without any voice acting because some of the actors are just so damn annoying. But then the reviewers wouldn't be so happy and to be honest, it'd be harder to get away without voice actors with a first person perspective.
And okay, so the boxing may have been way too drawn out but it was nice to have it there anyway.

Exactly... you just couldn't do that with the explicit nature of the first person viewpoint and have it feel right. But what they have done doesn't feel right either. Unfortunately, with expected production values as high as they are, these larger games are always going hang in the balance between size and quality on limited resources. I haven't played Elder Scrolls to know first hand what the world model was, but I completely agree they should have decimated the number of locations and directed the resources elsewhere.

Yeah, yeah I know. Choices and all that. It was just unfortunate for me with my savegame mishap.

I just wish they had made the settlements bigger with a more sparsely populated wasteland. Rivet City, one of the biggest towns around, only has roughly the population of Shady Sands in the original. Meanwhile, your average square mile of "barren wasteland" has a higher population density than the RL neighborhood that I live in.

It would be nice if someone did a similar mod for FO3 but the whole wasteland situation doesn't exactly lend itself well to organised transport.
I dunno, how about an option for transport via caravan like in the previous games? Or travel with slaver raiding parties, maybe Brotherhood and Outcast patrols as well? With all those old boats around I'm sure some enterprising soul would offer river transport. And doubtless Mr. Tenpenny has arranged for his tenants to be able to hire guards for local excursions. Not to mention that there's a conspicuous mercenary company (or two) in the game who might be able to help.
