is HOOTTT! YOWZA
Actually, wait no, that's not what the thread is about.
Spoiler alert.
I didn't manage to save her, try as I might. :( I was playing quite non-lethaly up till that point but when she came under fire my "no kill"-policy went out the window. I like that the game can do that, make you care about something, or someone, enough to break your own rules. What I didn't like was finding her dead body in the augmentation chop-shop afterwards. I was determined to have very harsh words with whoever was in charge of the place when I found them. Then I finally confront Tong and Adam doesn't even mention it! What was I supposed to do? Drag her body up to streetlevel? That wouldn't have been dignified, plus I was pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to get her past the loadzone.
Still. Just leaving her there is my biggest regret.

Saving her non-lethally took me about 15 attempts, and was hugely frustrating.
Also, I then discovered that the bot I'd EMPed had killed most of the unconscious people when it exploded.
Still, I kinda wished I hadn't assumed it was possible (figured it was a combo Jock/A BOMB Paul/window reference, and thus salvagable) coz I still remember "finding Paul's corpse" as being a pretty powerful moment.
They did do a lot of good things with this game. Adam's cutscene stupidity notwithstanding.

the bot killed them ? wow, I never checked those bodies after the fight if that happened to me as well.
But I remember getting some "non-lethal" achievement so maybe collateral damage is not affected by it. And in my opinion this fight was one of the best ones. This was like I imagined a good "bossfight" - you know the parties involved, there is an emotional connection and you get to choose the outcome and both decisions have their risks and rewards. not "random dude" shoots rockets.

I found her to be quite unattractive, actually. And that's coming from someone who's a huge sucker for ballsy chicks with short, dark hair. Fleshy or polygonal.
But yeah, I think it's fair to say Faridah provides the "Paul Denton" setpiece in that sense. And it works. I don't think it's on par with the original's since - and for me this is a bit of a recurring issue with DX3's cast - you don't really get exposed to her character as much, and you just don't get a similar level of involvement and reaction from her relative to yourself and ongoing events. But I got enough to make me care about getting her out of that situation. The only other instance where I had to further drop down from medium difficulty aside from boss battles, since I wasn't Rambo specced, but fifth or so attempt I managed. I imagine that if I'd given up, as I was quite close to doing it, I'd have been rather pissed off to find her corpse later on. And even more so at not having any option for Adam to react to it.
P.S. Yeah, Adam is pretty stupid sometimes. Quite often.

Actual non-lethal Malik rescue is possible. You "only" need to drag any KO'd enemies away from the bot before you EMP it. It's possible to buy a few seconds by using the stun gun on the bot.

(I think perhaps there should be more spoiler tags in the opening post)
Yeah, there were a couple of instances in the game that felt a bit under-developed. As you mention, I felt something when I found Malik's body (I gave up on saving her because I too had been playing stealthy non-lethal), but Adam didn't seem to. He should really have confronted Tong about it.
Another instance I was a bit disappointed with, is that I spent quite some time talking my way out of the first hostage situation with Zeke Sanders, with him leaving and the hostage left alive, but then later in the game when I met him again, there was no dialogue at all; he was instantly hostile and basically reduced to 'cannon fodder' I had to get rid of. I thought he 'owed me one?'
A third thing I was disappointed with was the second boss. I mean, when I saw her, I thought 'Wow - she's awesome!' and I was looking forward to her becoming a meaningful nemesis, kinda like Anna Navarre (except not working with her; I gathered that much), but instead she too was only reduced to 'cannon fodder' with no dialog at all. :erg:

It looks like you missed your second meeting with Zeke. At some point in Detroit (1st time), Pritchard contacts you and tells you he found a message stapled on your office door, telling to meet Zeke in an alley near the Sarif building. He's there with a few of his followers, and gives you some codes or passwords for the FEMA facility. He then tells you you're even now, and implies he might try to kill you if you meet again.

yes, yes, those bosses.....that's why Malik stands out so much for me even with her slim characterization.
DX1s setup was better in that regard.

Ah - OK. Yeah, there were a couple of side missions I didn't bother doing this first time around; I thought I could do them next time I play the game, and I also wanted to "get it over with" so to speak, so that I wouldn't have to worry about reading spoilers here and there, and so I could participate in the discussions of the game while it was still "fresh". But I guess I also missed a couple of key points that way, then. :erg:
