Who, the twerp outside the Temple that wanted money? Someone posted a clever solution recently, but I can't find who it was (and I've looked)... so to whomever it was, my apologies. Note that the platform the Temple sits on is slippery except at the steps? Just use a Jump potion or a Levitate spell and go up the slope to the top, then plink the bugger w/ arrows/spells/etc.

No levitating in Mournhold ;)
Still, the guy has remarkably high luck (255, I think) and he's wearing full ebony armor. Arrows don't do a lot of damage... so you'll have to be ready to spend a LOT of time there. If I were you, I'd stock up on Mazte and Skooma and all that. Boost your strength to a couple 1000 points and give him one good smack. Dead as a doornail in just a few strokes ^.^

What I did was, I made a spell. I called it "Gaenor's Despair" - Damage Attribute (Luck) 300 points on Touch. Cast it on him, and he was much easier to take out. Unfortunately he has a powerful Reflect ability, so there's a chance that any spell you cast will reflect back on you, so in this particular example keeping a couple of Exclusive Restore Luck potions wouldn't be such a bad idea, but once you successfully cast that one, he's far more managable.
You need to be very good at Destruction and have plenty of magicka to work that particular tactic, but I like it. It's an elegant solution.
I think I read in a Tribunal related interview that Gaenor was "a joke that went too far" presumably based on the cult of Fargoth-hatred that has built up around this game.

thanks for all your help guys, that guy makes Fargoth look like your best friend! Still he was no match for my sadistic, brutal, but honourable Nord who . . . ran like hell and jumped were no evil twin could reach.
Just a pity that i fell off the roof of the temple and died :(

I tried to fight him with Theseus (my char), Laura Craft (from a companion mod) and the Mercenary in Tribunal. All three of us were decked out pretty nicely, but after 20 minutes the merc was dead, Laura's weapon had broken and me and Gaenor were bashing eachother's heads in to no avail. I still haven't beat him... >.<

I've never had too much trouble with that guy, I normally just beat him round the face with Sunder a dozen times and he drops like a ton of bricks.
Maybe I've just been lucky ;)

The best way I've found is to keep hitting him until you need to heal. Leave the area, heal then come back and repeat. After a while, Gaenor's armour becomes so damaged that he stops wearing it. At that point he is easy to kill.

hmmmmm I went back to Vvardenfell (wow i spelt that correctly without looking it up - been playing game far too long) and returned to face Gaenor armed with Wraithguard, sunder and other goodies :ebil:
Long story short . . . hello Gaenor (he attacks) . . . whack, whack, block, umpf . . . whack, whack . . . argggg . . . Gaenor dead :thumb:
