If you really need a source for that stuff then you must live under a rock. Also, 'common sense' was clearly defined throughout the entire thing. Are you drunk?

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Wasn't this one the subject of an RBJ beatdown, once upon a time? Something about the difference between "ow, dammit, OW" hot and and "flesh-searing" hot.
I dunno though, there's some fair enough points in that rant, it just suffers from exaggeration and the tone of a Daily Mail column. I think the "I Want it Now" culture is a bad thing, but yes I do want a source for "6 year old charged with sexual harassmentfor kissing a classmate."

I've just read some materals about (
http://www.vpsmvbrno.cz/osobni/jedlicka/muzeumzla/hepnar/hepnaro_a.html) this extraordinary criminal case and my belief in COMMON SENSE has been seriously disrupted.
"If the society destroys individuals, individuals can destroy the society."(warning - disturbing pics of crime scenes if you examine the site further)

What Chimpy said. The McDonald's Coffee case was warped by the media, largely thanks to Republicans mis-representing it.
Yeah, this thing is pithy, complaining gross oversimplifications on most of the issues it touches on. It's exactly the kind of self-righteous forwarded e-mails I try my best to avoid.
P.S. AFAIK, people have been complaining about THE DOWNFALL OF SOCIETY ever since the beginning of society - this lack of so-called "common sense" is hardly a modern phenomenon.

I know exactly what will be the downfall of society: cell phones. I can't count the amount of times they've been directly responsible for me 1. getting into a heated verbal argument, 2. getting into a heated physical altercation, 3. almost dying, 4. ruining a date, 5. calling out the other ills of the world, 6. ect.
I'd go into details, but alas I haven't the time at the moment. Needless to say, the widespread availability of cell phones mixed with the acute lack of common sense (which, truthfully, has been a problem the world has faced since dinosaurs and marmosets were kings of the Earth), has lead to many an ERRRRGGGG moment in my life.
And before I get called a hypocrite, I got rid of everything but my business cell about 6 months ago. Best decision of my life. "But awwoooh mah gawwwdd, how do you txt", you may ask. I'll tell you. I DON'T!
Wow, not even 30 yet, and I'm already a curmudgeon.

I wouldn't be quite that kind, but yes, underneath all the bullshit are some potential issues for discussion. However, as it's presented in such a lazy, shameful, received opinion 'we all know this right guys, right right??' way it is utterly worthless as a point from which to begin.
It's just a load of unconnected gripes about life, some based on vague reality, most based on very little except manipulated sensationalism and poorly understood legislation. Which is somewhat ironic considering one of its own 'definitions' of common sense is 'life isn't always fair.'
'Common Sense' is just a linguistic turn of phrase which, like a lot of words, has very little basis beyond what its current usage happens to be. At present its usage has been co-opted for emails such as this. Ask yourself - what is it trying to make you think, and why?
The way it appeals to 'reason' at the end is almost grotesque in its hypocrisy.

Yes, it would be polite of you if you didn't make a call while you are talking to us, don't you think!?
Anyways, I never owned a celly. Most of the society wonders how I managed to survive for so long.

Speaking of the 'undefinable term' common sense, has anyone mentioned the (

It's so comforting to know that lawmakers arn't shying away from the difficult challenges facing Americans every day:weird:

Paz, yeah, "common sense" here is really just "the way I think things should be\the way i see the past through my rose-tinted glasses", or something like that. There's a "personal responsibilty" theme across half of it perhaps, but not really any solid reasoning.

It's not a law, it's a
proposed law. It relies on him getting the support of a majority of his state legislature to pass, which would mean they'd all have to be as crazy as he was.
Could that even be constitutional? (I ask as a foreign person.)
