It's weird that the game steers clear of that, because its marketing didn't.

You guys are digging way too deep, and expecting too much from a Far Cry game. Since FC3, it's been about blowing up as much shit as possible. Save the social commentary for Gone Home or Life Is Strange.
And the ads I've seen all seem to be very tongue in check, like "Nothing ever happens here in Hope County" while a bear mauls someone in the background.

You don't need to dig deep to see that after the first game, Far Cry has tried to sell itself as Having Something To Say About Things(tm), so I think it's only fair to see if it's actually doing that or if it's just using its references to sociopolitics and current issues as window dressing or as the ludic equivalent of clickbait. I agree that they're being tongue in cheek (except for Far Cry 2, which I remember as fairly po-faced), but not in the sense of "All of this is just in good fun". They're presenting the games as satirical reflections of real-world issues, so why shouldn't it be valid to have an opinion on whether they're doing so well or not?

The hand-crafted environmental storytelling in that location looked nice, the day/night cycle conspired against me when it came time to take screen captures though. Anyway there definitely seems to be nowhere near as much location copypasta as FC4 so far.
Loving this game so far, another magnificent mainline sequel. The levels of gameplay polish, world emergence and game systems dovetail together so well. Far Cry mainline games have been all killer since FC3.

What Thirith said. They're inviting the impression that they're more than explodey shooty funtimes, so it's only fair they get to be examined as more than that. Take a look at the (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JxUY1St8hI) trailer; I fail to see how the apocalyptic overtones of a religious cult appropriating land and people is somehow tongue in cheek. They look like they want to make a point, but if it's all setup with a poor to nil follow-through, that's just poor creative direction.

Maybe you guys are are right and it's just my perception with these games. I'd have to go back and look, but what were the issues tackled in FC 3 and 4? Any idea? I've no clue, I'd have to rewatch the trailers. To me it's always been more about the big, detailed, open world playground to explore, which is the reason I'll be picking up my copy after work tonight.

Help! I'm having trouble playing Far Cry 5; it won't even load! I keep getting the 'Error: 00001 System does not meet minimum requirements' but as far as I can tell my system should handle this game with little or no difficulty. I'll admit that when it comes to comparing graphics cards, processors, etc., I'm at a loss, like is my AMD Phenom II X4 955 equal to the Intel i5-2400 or AMD FX-6300 (minimum standard requirement as stated)? Or is my AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series equal to an Nvidia GTX 670 or AMD R9 270? I haven't a cold clue in hell. I have the required 8GB RAM and mine is a 64-bit operating system, Windows 7 and have 89.6 GB of free storage space. I've updated all my drivers, too. I hate Ubisoft so I linked that account to my Steam account and I get as far as the game starting to load, then I get the error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Here are Far Cry 5's minimum requirements:
Minimum system requirements:
•OS: Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8 64-bit, Windows 10 64-bit
•Processor: Intel Core i5 2nd Generation or better
•Memory: 6 GB RAM
•GPU: AMD R7 260X - Nvidia GTX 550 Ti 2GB
•DirectX: Version 11
•Storage: 45 GB available space
•Sound Card: Any
I've got:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.20 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 89.6 GB
Sound Card: AMD High Definition Audio Device

Your GPU is from 2012, and the min-spec AMD GPU is from 2013. I think that's the main issue here.
