Ok, I did the Can You Run It and the results (for Far Cry 5) were that my Radeon 7800 series met the minimum requirement but not the recommended requirement. The results claimed that:
'The Radeon HD 7850 will run 89% of the top 7,000 PC games. It will also run 68% of these games at the recommended or best experience levels.'

If I wasn't confused before, I am now. Guess it's time to call CPU Solutions (the guys who built my PC for me) and start picking their brains because hell if I know what to do about what now. Thanks for your advice, guys. Sorry if my skull's too thick to understand a lot of it (though I believe a new GPU is probably going to be my next major expenditure. *sighs*).

Your cpu doesnt meet the minimum requirements for Far Cry 5, I dont think a GPU upgrade will make much difference.

It sounds like the cell reset hasn't actually been improved from the previous titles. It's like technology stopped in 2012 for Ubisoft.

Far Cry 5 is, at times, very fidgety and glitchy. I ran into multiple quest-bearing NPCs who ran off mid-sentence and refused to activate again, forcing me to quit and restart. One such character was in the middle of telling me that he couldn't swim, then he got into an actively scared "there's an enemy nearby" state and immediately swam away. Pretty good form, too. One boss fight simply instructs you to kill the boss, so I pulled out my sniper rifle and smoked him. But he'll pop right back up, awkwardly, if you do it that way. You need to get up close so you can trigger a cutscene death. At one point in the game you're being constantly hunted by planes, but getting spotted by a plane doesn't activate enemies on the ground, so I was able to stealthily take over an outpost while also being bombarded and strafed from above. Characters flop around the environment, your AI helpers use their loud voices in stealth situations and sometimes use their stealth voices in open combat... while some of these glitches are funny and all, there are a few too many of them. They've been making these games for years, you'd figure some of this stuff would have been cleaned up a bit better by now.
Ouch. Isn't this par for the course for
Ubisoft open world games, tough? Kind of what you expect from a mile wide and an inch deep game, really.

@PigLick: Sorry for my ignorance. Are we talking about the AMD Phenom II X4 955? Why did the Can You Run It program rate it in the 98th percentile if it's not gonna run the game? Gawd! I get so confused with all of this stuff! Well, I already have a new HD (2TB's worth) waiting to be installed, so I guess it's time for an all-around upgrade. This is gonna hurt $$-wise.

The min spec for AMD cpu is what I have, the FX6300, your cpu is below that in performance. Those can you run it type sites arent always correct. I mean theoretically you could just run it with your setup but I would say Farcry5 is detecting your CPU as below spec and hence the message.
Also its a really bad time to be buying a new graphics card, prices are through the roof. For example I could sell my card that I bought a year ago for more than I paid for it.

It sounds like the game may require certain CPU instruction sets which aren't supported by your older CPU. You'll see more games like this over the next 2-3 years.
Upgrade to cheap but high quality Ryzen 5 CPU and you'll probably be good for another half decade in regards to games, including games designed for PlayStation 5 highly likely. You'll need a AM4 mobo and DDR4 RAM. PS5 will probably use Ryzen architecture or an APU equivalent.
I also suggest getting 16 GB RAM. I "upgraded" from 8 GB to 16 GB today and my load times in Far Cry 5 decreased by 2/3rds. However RAM can be expensive at the moment because of high demand by smartphone manufacturers buying it all up to put into their phones apparently.
