and triple buffering forced through nvidia Control Panel (off in the game settings)
Forced triple buffering through Nvidia CP only applies to OpenGL games. Due to some dumb MS red tape you have to D3DOverrider to force triple buffering in DX games.

EDIT:- turns out D3DOverrider doesn't work with 64bit games. FC4 is 64bit only AFAIK. Oh well.

And I've been using NCP's triple buffering like a dork since last year. Well, the more ya know... :D
I'm at Karma Level 8 and the 1.6 patch + hotfix seems to work okay. Not getting any stutter beyond what one might expect with a 4+ year old system, and save games have been solid so far. Just got back from Willis' first mission to the north. Hoping the game is "fixed" now.
Also, the drivers in Kyrat are atrocious.

I quietly rode an elephant mount down to the edge of an outpost. The plan was for me to recon with binocs. possibly take out the alarm with my bow, finally charging in on elephant to wreak havoc. As soon as I dismount my stead goes agro, storming the outpost and proceeds to kill everyone. The game counts this as a "slient" capture of the outpost, since no alarms were triggered.

This game is terribly addictive, and just plain, pure, unsubtle fun. I've clocked 30 hours in the past week and I've barely touched on the main story. It's best moments are spent just driving around the country side, armed to the teeth, blowing stuff up, grappling, hang gliding, gyro coptering, and just creating chaos in general. There are zero consequences for dying, so the opportunities for experimenting and freelancing are huge. There have already been an abundance of moments that left me laughing like an idiot, out loud, at my computer screen. Or yelling at it in frustration (usually a honey badger is involved).
Animals - they add so much to the game. I know they were first introduced in FC3, but they seem so much better in FC4. A great element of randomness - how many times have I completed a mission only to be killed moments later by a tiger or pack of wild dogs.
I think this is one of those rare games that (for me) is actually worth paying $50-60. The world is huge, and it looks like there's going to be a considerable amount of DLC too.

What did those delicious little parcels of pastry ever do to you?

Came across a weird glitch where I found both Amita and Sabal at the Royal Bridge just....vegetating, I guess. Sabal was floating in the air behind Amita, and Amita was waving her hands around in front of her.
