First gameplay video!

The new additions like the grapplinghook and the driving takedowns look like fun. Glad to see a seamless co-op mode as well. The separate co-op campaign in FC3 was a bit so-so.
And it's coming out already in November! :D

I feel like I should hold a grudge for the last game's quicksave shenanigans, but...
Also, our new Vaas?

They've captured the feel of the Himalayas really well; in an arcadish sort of way anyway. Hopefully they have included a lot of animals again (Yeti's anyone?)

ZOMG IT'S IN MY PLACE
Well not really, sounds like it's on the border, but it's close enough. And in case anyone's interested, they misspelled the Kyrat in Hindi on the signboard in the villain trailer.
Still, the game looks like loads of fun. And you can drive autos. That alone's a good reason for me to buy the game.

Looks great.
Shame it's all about the shooting and killing.

Get used to it, get Really. Fucking. Used to it. I will be shocked if this modern AAA $$$ shooter
won't have a crippled progress saving system like everything else being released today.

Gimmee, gimmee. This look great. Hopefully they'll still allow for some stealthy gameplay (if you so choose to go that route). And hopefully they've jettisoned the previous writer.
(although I'm guessing the grappling hook is as bad as Thief's (2014) rope arrows).
henke on 11/6/2014 at 16:46
Yeah it does seem like the grappling hook only works in predetermined places. Shame, just once I'd like to see a game with a grappling hook that works everywhere and behaves like an actual rope, like that one seems to do, instead of the more common videogame variety which just pulls you in a straight line to wherever it's attached.
I remember that there was a Quake mod which had a grapplinghook like that, way back in the late 90's, but I can't think of anything that's even attempted it since.

I'm pretty sure there have been lots of attempts - they just don't make it out of pre-design, because simulating rope is a pain.

Is it really? Games have already done cloth physics and water physics and individual strands of Lara Croft's hair. A realisticaly behaving rope can't be
that difficult. Indie rock-climbing game (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R8QXL5OuC0) Vertigo already did a pretty good job at it, and that was developed by
one guy. I'm sure a big studio could work it out if they really wanted to.
