Preface: What is this document?
This document is the Frequently Asked Questions list for Usenet newsgroup alt.games.morrowind. As such, this document pertains mostly to the newsgroup, as opposed to the game itself. If you are looking for an FAQ for the game Morrowind or it's companion applications, we suggest you start looking at the official Morrowind website at (
www.elderscrolls.com,) and continue on from there. There are a number of great game FAQs for Morrowind tha deal with all aspects of the game; the scope of this document is merely to provide a VERY simple game overview, and an explanation of the purpose and substance of the newsgroup.
1. What is Morrowind?
a. The PC Game
b. The X-Box Game
c. The Elder Scrolls Construction Set
2. What is alt.games.morrowind?
1. What Is Morrowind?
Morrowind is a combination first-person shooter/role-playing game for the PC and XBox published by Bethesda Softworks and released in 2002. The official website is located at (
http://www.elderscrolls.com.)
a. The PC Game
The Morrowind PC game differs substantially from the X-Box version in two major ways; it is upgradable, and it includes The Elder Scrolls Construction Set.
b. The X-Box game
The Morrowind X-Box game is similar in substance to the PC game - the "world" is the same, towns are located in the same places, quests and AI responses are the same. However, the X-Box version does NOT include TES Construction Set. While we do not discourage X-box discussion in a.g.m, X-Box users may find a more informative environment at microsoft.public.xbox.games
c. The Elder Scrolls Construction Set
The Elder Scrolls Construction Set is used to create modules, or "mods," for use in Morrowind game play. The modules tend to be very small and easy to use, although elaborate ones have been developed, with more available every day. The official Bethesda Sofware Morrowind website at (
http://www.elderscrolls.com) is always a good place to start looking for mods.
2. What is alt.games.morrowind
alt.games.morrowind is a Usenet newsgroup for the purpose of discussing all aspects of Morrowind. Excessive crossposting and binary posting are prohibited. Binaries may be posted to alt.binaries.games or a website. alt.games.morrowind is an unmoderated newsgroup; we strongly suggest that all users check out newsgroup news.announce.newusers prior to posting, if you are unfamiliar with Usenet.

LowGenius: Thanks for letting us knw such a thing existed (it's news to me) ;) Next time, please just post a link to it? (saves TTLG's bandwidth, makes it so it's always updated, etc) Btw, I do realise the group hasn't made it to deja.com yet, but if this is a valid Usenet group it will shortly ;)
